I guess because he was already injured while fighting Beerus, he didn’t had enough energy to go ssj3, but instead found a better and more powerful version of Ssj2 that surpasses Ssj3. Aka Ssj2 Rage

And yes sayen forms don't work as we see ssj1 than ssj2 then ssj3 they all are different forms like ssj1 form is weaker than ssj beyond but when they improved that forms then it became a new stronger form like ssj1 perfect and this was new form as same if you were sayen and you want to turn in ssj1 than you have to go through high pressure anger same ssj2 has different forms and one of them vegeta used

Vegeta didn't because it drains your energy quickly pretty much a useless transformation besides Vegeta doesn't like it because Goku has the form first and he refuses to use it same like when Vegeta said I'm not going to use instant transmission because Goku uses it because it is unique to Goku in a way. I hope you can understand what I'm trying to say I know it's kinda stupid to say.

Not stupid. It makes complete sense, especially on what u said on how he views Goku. It may be a "useless" transformation but in fights like these i think it's perfect. Big boost in power and speed for a short while and based on how fast these fights are, ssj3 is good enough to put someone down in a matter of seconds to minutes. I'm sure they (Vegeta) sense the difference in their (Tamagami) power as soon as he transforms...all the info he needs to use ssj3 effectively.

But base off what's going on in daima. it's leading the fact that we're most likely going to see more ssj3 scenes in action if not more like fusions or something entirely new but that's just me thinking outside the box 🤷🏾‍♂️

Because Vegeta is a strategist I would put it like in MMA are you going to throw haymakers or are you going to make your it count Vegeta at the end of buu has fully mastered super Saiyan 2 to the point where it can match super Saiyan 3 and beyond in power it's also more efficient but in this fight Vegeta's a kid unable to have control over his body in any form just getting used to it so pushing to super Saiyan 3 with actively beneficial here because he has equal control over his forms the more power of super Saiyan 3 just get some more power as a kid but if he was an adult super Saiyan 2 the one that he's more experienced in would be more beneficial and give more of an edge when does super Saiyan 3 so yes even though it's super Saiyan 3 I would say this super Saiyan 3 is weaker than any other super Saiyan 3
