I was working on a 230 ton York turbo package when the engineer wanted me to put a wet bulb thermometer open to the system. He was waiting until the temperature got down to 36 degrees F because water temperature is 36 degrees at a perfect vacuum. This got me thinking the compressor has to pump less than 15 pounds. Most refrigeration systems have to pump 100 to 200 pounds over the low side pressure to operate. Water is the best refrigerant as long as you don't try to freeze with the system. I have much more to say but it takes too long to cover the subject.
@SailingSophisticatedLadyАй бұрын
thanks for the input!

You know I’ve seen people take old 737 jet fuselage and turn them into homes, since your not sailing much you should put some wheels on that boat and head to a trailer park. You would fit right in.
@ericdelevinquiere9902Ай бұрын
Not just the price but the fact that marine systems have too many separate components and points of failures. Once you have the power available, it’s a no brainer!
@SailingSophisticatedLadyАй бұрын
And inverters have become much more efficient, more powerful, and much less expensive.. easy decision! :)
@jimmarshall5453Ай бұрын
More kittens playing please? lol I'd also like to see 5 minutes of underwater drone video footage in 3 out of 5 videos. Can you imagine them following jumping dolphins if you slow the boat a little? Do you use air conditioning and dehumidifying in the cabin much?
@clownworld-honk410Ай бұрын
I have a Dometic fridge freezer in my campervan. It's too noisy to leave on at night. Amazon have compressor free (silent) fridges for about 400 dollars. If the compressor is loud then it's not fit for purpose in a small RV / campervan. Powering them is one thing, the livability factor is another and just as critical.
@SailingSophisticatedLadyАй бұрын
Agree! And ours are so quiet that with 2 of them facing our cabin, we don't hear either one of them!
@Spoon279Ай бұрын
What's the power consumption difference between running a 12v DC fridge versus a 110 AC fridge with an inverter?
@SailingSophisticatedLadyАй бұрын
Typically about 15-20% more efficient on the compressors, less about 5-6% efficiency loss from the inverter, plus a huge cost savings for the AC powered system compared to the DC powered system.
@MalLaw-c2q21 күн бұрын
Will be very interested Rick in your new Nav gear installation, i have a Jeanneau too:) a 2001 45.2 also with new Raymarine Axiom's and presently fitting Icom Radios. I did first consider the VHF M510E (AIS Version) as you have but changed the VHF for the M605EURO, a few reasons for the change but one reason was since i am getting the M804 MF/HF (which i see you have as well) i thought I'd get the VHF & SSB Pigeon Pair:)

For me it's good info. Living on the water or land efficiency just makes good sense. In my 60s been on the water since 7 years old and every electric item you bring onboard there is always a concern of how much power it requires. And if people would start using efficient appliances at home everyone would be better off.
@wadeprice67Ай бұрын
Ho and by the way I didn't know you had a name change . Capt Brick mighty mighty and letting it all hang out. But don't make a video with all of it hanging out.
