I am head of a tiny catholic family with 2 kids and practically no relatives and I have no catholic friends or friends at all for that matter. People in my church are old and many are foreigners who can't even speak Dutch. I can cultivate my knowledge and faith all I want, but I feel lonely in this God-forsaking country of the netherlands. God is not forsaking us, but everyone has forsaken God. I pray a lot.

It really is ! I tire of the other options due to repetitive topics that don’t really enlighten my knowledge of the history. I am so appreciative of these priests speaking on these topics !

I've watched a number of SSPX podcasts, and while all these priests have their individual personalities, I am struck by a certain common denominator: their calm confidence in speaking God's truth. It is how I imagine it might have been like listening to Jesus in His own time.

This series is incredible. I became a Catholic nearly 40 years ago. Most of what I know about Catholicism, however, I only recently learned over the past several months (thanks to channels like this). How I wish I had known it all sooner! I can clearly see now how much liberalism permeated my own life and thoughts (and led me into error) despite thinking of myself as “Conservative.” Better late than never, but far better early than late!!

16 straight years of Catholic school 1st grade thru college 1968 -1984. I was never taught anything close to this. Traditional Mass was completely ignored, along with the great Popes before Vatican II, Thomas Aquinas, everything. We were indoctrinated just like with what is occurring in secular schools now. Honestly I had issues and questions about this for years, never knew where to go. I’m like you absorbing this as fast as possible. 59 now and I’ve discovered my true faith. It’s a very unusual feeling.

At the local hairdressers, I get the chance to listen to the young women who work there. They are such lovable young women but what they tell me horrifies me. Yesterday, a lovely nineteen year old lady told me that pets are better than children and that her grandmother won't let her have any children because she wants her to "Get an education first". That happened to me, too and my parents have no grandchildren. I was raised atheist but, praise God, I am a member of the great SSPX.

I would love a Catholic community that cared for each other . Recently I had a housing crisis and my Novus Ordo parish of 10 years is not a caring community . I stopped going there as something is so wrong at how they treat a family - it’s ok - we have options in our area and it’s sad they want to do the modern stuff- it’s not reverent !

If Luther cancelled church authority and natural law as a result of his scrupulosity etc. and, importantly, did so as such an arching social influencer, which is to say that he became the father of liberalism, then could this be somewhat akin to the fallen angel who tried to cancel Gods authority and divine law as a result of his pride and then introduced this to Eve and through her to Adam?
@jgarden39253 жыл бұрын
Of course. Luther himself said he heard the devil on his later years...

It seems to me one ism keeps morphing from one to the another. What is then the driving force of this phenomenon?
@jefffinkbonner95513 жыл бұрын
All the -isms are worldly ideologies. Man’s ways not God’s ways. There’s a scripture passage I think from 1 or 2 Timothy or maybe 1 or 2 Peter that prophesies about how men will not heed the truth but will instead look for false teachers who will fill their itching ears. That’s what we’re seeing. All the -isms give people a philosophical paradigm that gives them meaning and makes the world make sense while also not making any moral demands on them to give up their favorite vices. So, it’s pretty straightforward that they’re all shades of antichrist religions.

Naturalism goes back to the philosophies of Epicurus 270 BC, a materialist, and Democritus, 370 BC, the founder of the so-called atomic theory, also a materialist. It has mingled with Western Civilization since then.

@SSPX4 жыл бұрын
It's not that we're being squeamish - though we can understand how it seems that way - we're trying to be very specific with the language, since as you say, words indeed have meaning.

Honestly, “left” “right” “center” are all rather arbitrary political words. Sure, they serve a certain colloquial usage, but they are horridly imprecise and change constantly to mean different things. The trick is to learn that at least as for American politics, what qualifies as “left wing” and “right wing” are actually just two different brands of liberal.

Priests really should avoid philosophy unless they have some training as this talk was replete with strawmen arguments about liberalism. I am very glad that catholic morality has evolved, Paul told slaves to obey their masters, presumably the church today would condemn slavery not suggest to slaves that they accept their lot, It is also incredibly arrogant to claim that people weren't truly human until the advent of Christianity, which this priests does at the end.
