Hello, I do watch all your SSR videos, thanks for sharing them. I do have a question if you don't mind. The right side window is out of timing. It goes up before the door is closed. I have re-indexed this window and I have disconcerted the battery for 12 hours, but no luck. Do you think I had to install a new RDM to get the timing right?

Hi Tim, if the window is going up before the door is closed, then there might be one of two issues. First the door latch assembly is responsible to signal the RDM when to lower/raise the window. If the window goes up just as the door latch is first making contact but before the door is 90+% closed/latched, then it could be a bad latch assembly (which are known to get bad corrosion inside of them from water intrusion). If the window is going up before the latch is moved, you could have a wiring harness issue in the door wiring harness. I've been told the wires in the wire loom that passes between the door and the cab have been know to have wire breaks in them which may be contributing to the problem. I hope that helps.

Hum?? The windows in my 04 SSR have been un index for years. I was told by a Fanatic I had to replace the Door index module? I even bought replacement parts including window on drivers side to make the fix. I am going out after NASCAR race & try this fix. If it works? I will have a extra Drivers door window & all components? Could you Please post were this fix is in repair manual? I tried to find the repair & could not find it. I have the SSR repair manual .

I have an online version of the Chevy SSR service manual from alldatadiy.com. The section "Reinitialization of the Power Window" is located in the "Vehicle > Window and Glass > Windows > Testing and Inspection > Programming and Relearning" section. The current version of that document states to hold the window button for a mere 0.5 seconds on each end of the window travel, but the older version stated 5 seconds (long ago). I've always held the button for five seconds on each end (top and bottom). The RDM is the "brains" of the whole operation so it can be the source of a window indexing problem. The RDM is the thing that stores the full up/down positions for each window so it knows how far to turn on the window regulator motor to index the window down when opening the door and how far to index it up when the door is closed. That assumes the door latch assembly electronics are not faulty, which they've been well known to fail due to water intrusion. A couple of people on the ssrfanatic.com website rebuild the door latch assemblies because of the water intrusion problem that corrodes the electrical connectors inside of the latch assembly. The window regulator motors / sensors must also properly report the position of the window glass to let the RDM know if it needs to index the window or not when the door is open/closed. All of those items have to work together correctly to have the window indexing feature work.

How can I adjust the top of the window inwards? I am having to push the window inwards when shutting the door to get the window to go under the rubber seal.

The window tip-in/tip-out adjustment can be modified by adjusting one or both of the window track adjustments at the bottom of the door behind the door panel and water barrier. How can I get extra leg room in my SSR. IM 6-2 and a little cramped.

Hi Robert. I'm 6'2" as well and I've always been a little cramped in the SSR. There really isn't much that can be done to give you more front/back space. I had an aftermarket rear windscreen that had a set of low profile (thin) mount brackets that replaced the carpeted bumpers that mount to the rear wall of the cab for the top of the seat back. That basically would get the front/back travel distance back to the original amount of travel otherwise you would lose about an inch with the factory bumpers in place with the aftermarket windscreen. I wish I had a better answer for you, but I don't.
