I still have the SSR pickup, but I sold my SS Sedan last January to fund my business/channel and to fund my current project car a 2014 Chevy Caprice PPV. The 2014 Chevy Caprice PPV shares a lot in common with the Chevy SS Sedan.

Great detailed video Robert. One other source of leaks can exist if the top seal from the cargo cover to the tailgate is not properly formed due to people closing the tailgate before the bed cover. The seal will bend down in the middle and form a funnel for water straight into the back of the bed. That seal should slide over the lip on the tailgate all the way across.

Excellent point. If the bed cover is not being closed correctly, any number of problems (seal deformities , dents in the cover, etc) can occur. One of the reasons I included the steps to properly close the cargo cover in my Chevy SSR review video. 😀

Sorry to hear that your SSR's roof is not working. The "how to fix it" answer is not a short / easy one since it totally depends on what the source of the failure is in the SSR roof system. There are many hydraulic cylinders, magnetic switches, wiring harnesses, roof door module and the roof hinges and panels that can be the source of a roof problem. Terms: Rood Door Module = RDM -- Controls the roof movement and door windows Driver Information Center = DIC -- located in the instrument panel in the lower center section of the instrument panel Do the door windows still index downward when a door is opened and upward when the door is closed? If "Yes", the RDM is still functioning to some degree Do both side windows move downward to their fully open position when you press the "Roof" button to open (put down) the roof? If "Yes", this is another sign the RDM is operational (in some degree). If "No", then the RDM may have a power problem or is faulty. Is any error message presented on the DIC when trying to open/close the roof? If "Yes", that message is a good indicator of the potential problem or error condition that needs to be corrected. If there is no movement of the roof and no error messages on the DIC: It would be great to connect a higher end scan tool that can check for DTCs (error codes) in the "Roof Door Module". Most basic scan tools cannot access the RDM. This type of test is helpful to see if the RDM responds at all to requests sent to it. It's also a good thing to check the RDM fuse (labeled "RDM 2" in position 28) located in the center console on the passenger side behind the passenger seat. It also has been helpful to temporarily remove (for at least 30 seconds) the two silver relays located at the very top of the center console fuse box. This has been helpful in reviving the RDM for some yet unknown reason in limited situations. One of the less obvious problems could be the switch for the roof itself. The rubber toggle switch has metal contacts on the bottom side of the rubber/button section. If a soda/drink has been spilled on that area or from a lot of use, the contacts on the bottom side of the switch panel can get gummed up or corroded. The removal and cleaning of the center console switch panel rubber button contacts can sometimes restore roof functionality. Often the roof problem will be occur at the same time window switches work poorly or not at all. If the problem is based in the RDM, finding a replacement RDM is EXTREMELY difficult at this time. There are no viable options to get them refurbished. I hope something in this reply helps!

The driver's side latch for the cargo cover isn't staying in the locked down position. The latch on the passenger side works fine. It opens like normal with the key fob. Any ideas or known issues with this? I appreciate your help.

A couple of possibilities come to mind. The latch itself may be defective, the cable adjustment for that latch is could be too tight causing the latch release to always be partially pulled or the cable is not freely moving as much as it should to allow it to fully release the latch release mechanism. You may want to check out Richard Bellville's (Dicktator on ssrfanatic website) document on the bed cable adjustment. onedrive.live.com/?cid=3EF39D9F5ADCE5E5&id=3EF39D9F5ADCE5E5%211358&parId=3EF39D9F5ADCE5E5%21853&o=OneUp

I own a 2003 SSR. Low mileage. The tonneau cover always released both with the FOB and the button in the glove box. Not anymore: I hear the solenoid click gently but the tonneau remains closed. What do I do? 505 820-9250 in New Mexico.

@@RetroCarGuy530 Well, I celebrated a touch too early. After the battery change and an alternator test, it is still intermittently opening by FOB and push button, at other times I merely hear a click. Any suggestions what to chase next?
@RetroCarGuy530

Sounds like it is time to look at the rear cargo cover cable adjustments in the black plastic box we discussed. The solenoid itself may have problems, but I would first look at the cable adjustments. Look for a document named "BED CABLE ADJUSTMENT" in the PDF file repository that the user Dicktator on the SSR Fanatic website maintains. bit.ly/dicktator-ssrhowto

Over the last couple of months I have observing the tonneau lock/unlock behaviour. Conclusion: whenever its hot e.g. above 90 and the car has been parked in the sun for some time, the Tonneau will NOT Unlock (it will click the release solenoid but the cover stays shut). Next morning, once the car cooled off, it reliably unlocks. Any pointers?
