Disturbed is one of my favorite bands. David Draiman, the lead singer, is a classically trained operatic baritone. He can do so many amazing things with his voice. You should check out Down With the Sickness, Indestructible, and The Animal. They have so many great songs! 💯

I had listened to S & G’s version for decades then came across David’s version of this song recently. He made it so powerful and so moving with his voice and inflections. I can’t get over the difference. The message was always in the lyrics but David brought it to Life for me.

Which makes it even more tragic when the silent majority play ignorant, and chose to remain slaves to consumerism. With just enough self assurance, importance, and entitlement to accept enslavement to obtainment of the supposed "next big thing" as fulfillment, a proof of self worth to be envied, and great pride, so they will keep working and won't kill themselves. Add a dash of paranoia, inadequacy, just enough to lose, with a little fear of authority mixed in, and it keeps them nice and docile like. Fearful of the repercussions of rising up, screaming "enough is enough"! And killing all of them.

I write songs, everyone that can rhyme two words write songs but as this song tells, they will never be heard. If they ever see the light of day, a great singer needs to lead Us to it.
