Good job with showing great spots in St. Augustine. I love it there. My daughter attended Flagler College. Since it used to be a hotel, her dorm rooms were awesome with old fireplaces and the architecture was gorgeous. Another favorite spot in St. Augustine for me were the old cemeteries with the old markers. Catch a ghost tour sometime.

This is an amazing video. One of my favorites of your collection for sure. Please keep up the great content! I have heard of St. Augustine and that it was the oldest settlement in the US- BUT- I had no idea that there was so much to do and see here. I thought it was more of a half day pass over destination, it looks like from the video though that this is a real destination. Very cool!

Hi Jose. Thanks for watching and the support! Yes, many people don't even know that St. Augustine is the oldest settlement in the continental United States- and there is a ton to do and see there. In the past it sort of served as a quick stop destination through Florida, but in recent decades has grown to a full blown destination. It is one of my most favorite places in Florida and the USA!

There are a couple of beaches for you to choose from: Vilano Beach is north of the city, St Augustine Beach is immediately east of the city and here there are tons of restaurants and bars, then there is Crescent Beach and Fort Matanzas beach to the south- these two are quieter. All of the beaches are along Florida's famous A1A beach highway. Make sure you subscribe, if you haven't already, and look for the St. Augustine off the beaten path tour- which should be released in the next couple of days and will show some of the beaches. Correction: The Columbia Restaurant has been in EXISTENCE since 1905 but has not been in St. Augustine since 1905. It opened in the 1980's and I know that because I worked there and was part of the crew that finished off the interior of the building and then worked as waitstaff when it opened. But all in all, a good video and shows off my former home very well.

Thanks for a great video of an interesting city. Titles like “oldest city in the US” alway catch my attention because that designation is Euro-centric and not really true. It’s not like Europeans “discovered” America after all. Acoma pueblo in New Mexico has been continuously inhabited since ca. 1100 and Hopi and Taos native peoples were also around hundreds of years earlier. Santa Fe has a church and house that also pre-date St. Augustine. I know St. Augustine takes pride in it’s age, as it should, but I wish they would clarify these points. It is also a beautiful place as you so well showed. Thanks!
@ProjectGaiaTravel Жыл бұрын
Yes that is true. What is old really? As one could argue that the entire planet is essentially the same "x years old." I guess what is meant by that is "permanent habitation of the same space with remaining buildings" So North America and Europe is the same age essentially, but since many of the existing buildings date back to medieval and Roman times it is considered "older". Thanks for the great point and for watching!
