Wouldn't a preemergement act as a barrier for St Augustine plugs spreading out, which would actually block the stollons from developing roots?

Hey Allyn. I bought a commercial grade John Deer LP31340 spreader 2 weeks ago from Lowes. I had seen this video with you talking about the Earthway spreaders. I tried spreading some Milorganite in the John Deer spreader and it was not easy at all to push around, especially up hill. To me the John Deer is not balanced when loaded and the back resting skids are a little too long thus they drag in spots where there are bumps in the yard. I wend out today and picked up the Earthway 2150 spreader today. I topped it up with Milorganite and it worked perfectly. It is very well balanced (unlike the JD) and the on/off control is much smoother. Your video sold me on the Earthway. Thank you. Alan

+The Lawn Care Nut I do have a question for you. My house faces East and in the front yard I patched a couple spots with sod. One spot was where a tree stump was ground out and another was where a basketball hoop base was. Both spots barely grown and can tell the areas have been patched. What can I do to spike its growth? And make it look like the rest of the lawn.

I bought an Earthway based on your recommendation and I love it! I bought the 2150 and got a great deal on it. I tried using a plastic wheeled Yardworks brand and my lawn surface was too much for it. Great videos and I do this for a living! The earthway sprayer looks great. I just want to mention a good backpack sprayer is a great option for a homeowner as well to more efficiently spray. I use the echo ones which can be had for around $100.00 and with a flat fan tip and a pressure regulator valve I can cover a decent amount of ground pretty quickly.

I have a lawn where I'm going to do a scorched Earth approach [I had more weeds than Bermuda and any topsoil I bought or Bermuda seed I put down from Home Depot (I now know you don't use this stuff) had weeds in them so my problems got worse] where I'll have plenty of dead weeds and grass. Aside from pulling out some, should I just leave the dead stuff as long as most of the soil is visible? I only have 1000 sq. ft.

The music that opens this segment is just the best for your tube cast. I really enjoy it every time I hear it. By the way, what happened to the bermuda grass?; did I miss something? I put in a bermuda lawn at my residence (Hampton Roads, Va.) the last week of June, 2015. It came in shockingly well for it to have been an off the self Scott's product from Home Depot, and not only that, but its growth habit mimiced a tall fescue, in that I kept it at 2.5 to 3 inches tall until mid September. I am anxiously looking forward to its return this summer. Keep up the good work.

Tim, how can you dominate your neighbours if they know the same as you ????
@Rydog_2.08 жыл бұрын
I have been following your rehab plan sine we moved into our new Missouri home last fall. Currently our lawn looks AMAZING and our new neighbors are definitely feeling dominated. I'm concerned about the grass type in our lawn though, I think it's a course type tall fescue like Kentucky 31. This fall when I aerate I would like to introduce a better fescue blend. Can I just over seed and expect good results? Would a newer grass type mix well with the course type tall fescue?
@LloydBreeland8 жыл бұрын
Ryan, I recently bought a house in CT and the previous owner used Kentucky 31 (awful) and it was looking tired. I aerated and overseeded using a fine textured tall fescue (Penningtons) last October and today while the results look good from far away, up close there is little uniformity and it always bothers me. If I had to do it over again last year I would have saved my time and money on overseeding and killed the entire lawn using a "non selective" herbicide (Roundup) and just started over. In fact, after this summer is over that is what I am going to do. Good luck...
@megafast138 жыл бұрын
+Lloyd Breeland yeah I would kill off the nasty fescue because it will never get the same color as new blends. I had great success with the Scott's tall fescue when I over seeded this year. You'll get the best stripes with per. Ryegrass so do both for the best lawn. Along with Kentucky blue if you are in the right zone.

I have my own lawn care and home maintenance company and have re seeded many of laws in the spring. And had some really nice yards. Are the plugs supposed to fill in after some time and how long does it take
@TheLawnCareNut8 жыл бұрын
+chuckccfd9 good questions -- watch the video I published today - it will give you an idea of what seeding is like in Florida. Plus, St Augustine is not available in seed - only sod or plugs.
@Verduras5098 жыл бұрын
Yes the plugs will just end up filling up within time, a plug is pretty much ready to go really cuz everything you want is all there, meaning the plugs already have a root system and all they are missing is that ground and some water and they eventually just end up taking off like a track star, you should give it a try I mean you don't have to do a huge lawn but if anytime there is a lawn you can maybe mess around with try out plugs it's good stuff you will not be disappointed
