I read you a little piece I wrote on CS Lewis and Music, which was published on November 22nd which is both St. Cecilia's day and the anniversary of CS Lewis's death, and that leads into a further reading from The Magician's Nephew
As always, you can, if you wish, encourage me with coffee and cake here: www.buymeacoff...

I'm so thankful for men like Lewis who wrote down such longings as are keen in my heart, and for men like Malcolm Guite who enjoy ruminating over these thoughts and hidden truths. It's a wonderful camaraderie.

“The sense that beauty calls out goodness” What a profound and heart-stirring statement, one that I had never considered, but immediately upon hearing it could affirm its truth. Wonderful as always Malcom, thank you:)

How C.S. Lewis "...slipped his moorings in the night and sailed out of this world in his own way on a kind of Dawn Treader..." Thank you for this! I'll enjoy ruminating on it for a good while.

I just read that same excerpt from The Magician’s Nephew at one of our worship services I lead and then followed it up with a song by All Sons and Daughters called Heaven Meets Earth where they were inspired to write the song from this same excerpt. Very inspiring, both the original book, their song, and your video on the subject. Thanks! And also thanks for taking time to grab a photo with me at the Sing Conference this year. I’m aware that you take countless photos during your travels but it meant the world to me. 😊

Thankyou Malcolm! Fitting for St Cecilia that I should have spent the last 3 days immersed in music at a folk festival in a village a few hours away, and not less that two gigs in a church (Uniting I'm afraid).

Thank you as always Malcolm. I have another reason to remember November 22…my grandson Isaac was born that day in 2003 ( incidentally the very day that England won the Rugby World Cup) and so this year he was 21! And at the moment he plays rugby for his university.

I just want to say thank you for this channel. I always found it interesting how Lewis has Aslan create worlds through singing them into being and Tolkien has Eru Ilúvatar with the Ainur do so also. I think there is something of the divine or profound in music, especially in considering it's relationship to math and that being considered the language of the universe. I have used the Chronicles of Narnia series to learn other languages and enjoyed learning to read these same passages in a different language. Similarly to the cabby, I think I am a better person or try to be as a result of reading Lewis's and Tolkien's beautiful works.

This is a joyful find, thank you for inviting us in and reading to us from such riches. Beauty does call upon an inward response to goodness. It frequently reminds me of morning - newness of the day, fresh starts. How fitting that CS Lewis entered the Glory on St Cecilia's Day... I'll ponder that rather than JFK's assassination happening the same day. I'd lost the thread with regard to Huxley too.

This was wonderful! Thank you for sharing! I will think more about the double meaning to the word "fair." Beautiful passages, and I really enjoyed what you wrote. Creation through song also got me thinking about The Silmarilion and the creation of Arda.

Malcom, thank you for sharing your column in the paper and Lewis with us. I wonder if you would provide your thoughts on Tolkien's Silmarillion and Eru Iluvatar's creation through music, as well as Melkor's falling away by the creation of his own music not found in the melodies of God.

Lewis' creation of Narnia through Music is very similar to Tolkien's mythic creation of Middle Earth, Arda, through a great heavenly symphony, which included the discord of Melkor and his rebellious followers.
