I’ve got two of them, really nice rods. Pricey for sure, but that warranty is the bomb. I actually backed my truck with both rods up in a rod rack and snapped em. With minimal effort and cost by me, both were replaced pretty timely by St. Croix. I use mostly in the creeks with jig heads and live bait. Love the way it casts. Appreciate the Salt Strong reviews….and community.

I currently have 2 if the Avid inshore rods and I absolutely love both of them. You are correct with the hook setting issue of the medium rod with the heavier weedless rigging though. I use it with small weedless rigging with lighter wire hooks and smaller hard baits such as the mirrodeans. The medium heavy works great for the larger swim baits with heavier thicker wire hooks. I do intend at some point to replace my 20 year old G.Lomis with the Avid heavy for throwing my heavier top water, hard baits, and large swim baits. Their warranty service is excellent and made no quarrels about replacing one that was broken a couple years ago when a 23 inch Red took a hard run under the boat and I over reacted when applying too much pressure trying to stop the fish. It was replaced without question or concern of why it how. And it's made in the USA. They are a little pricey but worth the money in my opinion. I do also have several other St Croix rods which have served well for many years now in the premier series.

I know this video is a year old but I just saw it in my suggestions. I bought the the same rod (Avid) in a 7' med/heavy and paired it with the 4000 Shimano Stradic FL and I love it. I use that one for live bait fishing for snook around the rocks in the inlet. The med/heavy feels like a med compared to some other brands. I also have the G Loomis E6X inshore 7'6" medium xfast paired with a 4000 Shimano Stradic Ci4+ for artificial baits. Both rods and reals are awesome. I've caught multiple 32" up to 37" snook and reds on both and they handle them very well. Its amazing when you start to spend a little bit of money how strong and light a rod can be.

I have that rod and the one in the video (vis76m and vis76mh) the mh rod will struggle to throw a 1/8oz lure but can chuck a 3/8 oz. This will affect the sink rate and may not be what you want for fishing heavy grass. I use my fenwick hmg inshore medium 7-6 for fishing grass, it hurls light lures and is right in between the avid m and mh in terms of power. Really good rod for the price

I've had an absolutely terrible experience with this rod. Not exactly with the rod itself, but the buying experience. Its a pricey rod that not many stores stock, including the bass pro shops megastore 30 minutes from me. So I bought on Amazon. The first one arrived broken. They sent another.....with Bent rod guides. So I cancel the order and buy direct from st Croix. Their webpage is messed up and shifts the page down when you select the rod model, so instead of getting a spinning rod, they send a casting rod. Who is using a 7.5 foot casting rod in saltwater? So now I've ordered my fourth avid inshore rod and havent gotten a single cast out of one yet. F me, right?
