Incredible scene, and one of the most historically accurate. Bernardo was indeed Francis's first friend to join his mission. St. Francis had not yet been authorized to build an order. It grew from this simple moment. A knight, and nobleman of Assisi leaving everything behind to join a friend in poverty; I'm surprised Bernard has not been canonized.
