St Francois Mountains Missouri

The 1.5-billion-year-old St. Francois Mountains are a geological rarity. Formed by volcanoes hundreds of millions of years before the Rockies and Appalachian mountains formed, the St. Francois Mountains are some of the oldest in North America. In fact, the mountains have been around 4x longer than trees have existed. Taum Sauk Mountain and its neighboring knobs are some of the only areas in the U.S. that were volcanic islands in the Paleozoic Era seas and were never submerged. The mountains are so old and worn they've been called roots of mountains. At one point they were twice as tall as they are today.

I built a house about half a mile from Black Mountain Falls and retired to the area. Great video of a part of the world I love. You might want to add Lower Rock Creek (Cathedral Canyon), Silver Mines, Millstream Gardens (especially some videos of the kayak races), Buford Mountain, Hughes Mountain, and a bunch more.

You are speaking my language. This are some of the most beautiful places on earth. Another one worth seeing is the lower tom Sauk reservoir, coming in from above take 21/72 south to AA , go right on AA follow it to the fork in the road with random fenced truck size parking slots, go to the left there and prepare to be amazed at the scenery.

The first picture is at Knoblick Towersite off of highway 67. It is definitely one of the more impressive lookout points
