They are speed brakes, sometimes they put them up some during flight to slow the aircraft when its approaching structural speed limits at altitude. They probably had a strong tail wind pushing the aircraft faster than they wanted to go. Push the aircraft past it's structural speed limits and it could begin to disintegrate from the speed.

Nice video! I've never boarded with air stairs but I've been on jetways a lot and i boarded an American Eagle ATR-72 which has stairs built in to the door smallest plane I've ever been on and an experience I will never forget now that they are gone :(

Thomas Harbauer when you live on a small island for many props are the only way of travel :), i get people from big countries they that they never experience walking on the tarmac or apron to board a plane :) !!!

Walking on the Tarmac is the greatest thing ever. It's loud, you hear the roar of the engines of other planes taking off, it's that way aviation was meant to be experienced. :)

if you are into aviation you cannot go wrong with St Maarten, :) its airport is by far its biggest tourist attraction, my island St Kitts is a typical tropical island with plenty things to do, but is what your into :) !!!!

lol why you ask that you had a bad experience with them ?. I actually did not eat anything, they serve you drink and that's it u have to buy food or anything else so i ate at Miami Int before i left it was just a 3 hour flight, i ate when i got home :) !!!!

From New Jersey. Um i love american its just i cant get any flights to where i want to go to. united is the hub in newark and its near my city. the only flights i can get with AA is EWR-MIA, EWR-LAX and American Eagle to chicago ohare
