Him scoring on Mother's Day in the playoffs right after she passed away is one of my favorite moments in the NHL. Gets me every time I see the goal.

Marty's story deserves to become a movie. This guy is the one who always tells you not to give up even if circumstances and the whole world are against you. No doubt, Marty deserved this more than anyone else. Thank you for being the thunder. Always a legend! A small guy with a heart bigger than life!

Eventhough he only played for the Rangers for a short time, what an amazing year and a half he had with us! I always liked him even in 2004, and when I heard rumors he could potentially be a Ranger around the lockout I was hopeful! When the Rangers fell behind 3-1 to Pittsburgh and his mother passed. I felt horrible and hopeless for any comeback. I was amazed how close the team came for Marty!

He was always one of the players that I had tremendous respect for. Undrafted, told his size would keep him down... what a guy. Congrats Marty!

Former Ranger/teammate Mats Zuccarello looked up to him as a kid! Mats dealt with the same kind of adversity. He said it was extra special to him that his favorite player was his teammate for a short time and even became buddies in the locker room! It doesn't matter how big or small you are, if you wanna do something do it!

I was pissed when Marty left. Held a grudge until he retired. But he is arguably the best to ever pull on he black/blue and white. You'll forever be a bolt Marty

i’m more pissed at yzerman then i am marty. if it weren’t for him snubbing him from team canada he would have retired a bolt.

so awesome to watch this! he was my favorite player growing up. I have always been the smallest in all of my classes, and of course my hockey teams. but i idolized this man and the way he played so i tried to mirror it. Im now 23 standing at 5'6 175 lbs and i know first hand, its not the size of the dog in the fight but the size of the fight in the dog. Thank you Marty St. Louis for everything you've done for not only me but the great sport of hockey.

From being raised in Montreal, the habs were always my favorite team. But always loved watching St-Louis and Lecavalier at Tampa. Now I can only hope Cole Caufield can be a St-Louis of a new generation.

Growing up as a Bolts fan I never really thought about what a privilege it was to watch him play every night. Tonight made me remember how much I missed seeing him on the ice. All the incredible moments that he created, I hope will never be lost on the hockey world. It's bittersweet, seeing his jersey go up to the rafters. Not only are we recognizing his legend, we're also recognizing the fact that there will never be another player quite like him ever again.

As a Rangers fan, I gave up hope when they fell behind Pittsburgh 3-1 in the series. I gave up hope that they could come back against a powerful Pens team. When I heard the devastating news about Marty's Mom, I felt heartbroken for him and his family. Plus I felt like he wasn't going to want to play game 5 and it was going to put a big hole in the Rangers. But the team and Marty went on a tear immediately the Pittsburgh couldn't stop! Game 5 the team rallied for him, then it was special for me that he scored that Game 6 Goal on Mothers day! Then Assisted the Game winner in 7!
