I used to always run to the jukebox on the rare times when my family went out to eat. I don't think I remember dime ones. 2 plays for a quarter, 5 for 50 cents.

Man you did find some killer 45’s I recently was gifted the Crazy Elephant album and you know me I love my bubblegum stuff! The Foundations are like Bubblegum Soul in my book! Hard to believe that Punky Meadows went from Cherry People to the hard rocking Angel! Man I now wish I’d have taken a dive into that 45 bin! Man great finds Mr Fithen! Hope to fire up my Record Show vid soon! It was fantastic meeting ya Man! And we will def do a collab vid for sho! Peace ☮️✌️👽🤘☮️

Absolutely! There was one guy there in the middle and all he had were 45's. You had to dig through some poor condition ones, but there were some gems like that mint condition Foundations and 1910 Fruitgum Co. That's also where a lot of the funk and soul came from. It was mostly all just the one guy!

That first CatMother I search forever for. Found it in a small shop around 2002 for a quarter. Shop owner asked why I was so excited to find it I told him because of Hendrix. Next week went into store owner was pricing everything with a price guide. He Wasnt too happy with my find.

As a really young child, I had "Goody Goody Gumdrops" with the backwards "Candy Kisses" and "Yummy Yummy Yummy" with "Zig Zag". I didn't understand anything at age 4 about backwards tape and I just thought they sounded strange. I remember thinking the backwards drums were people marching.

It gets really fun when one factory uses leftover stock sleeves with new records. RCA did that a lot so there's actually another style of sleeve that I didn't show that could go with "Jolene".

I love 45s. Not sure how many i got yet, but guessing theres gonna be over 600 by the time i finally sort and count them. Just gonna cut down a bunch of cardboard and go at it now that i finally get sorted after many years of collecting. Whats the best 45 i ever heard? Im gonna vote for the Canadian Motown version of ABC by Jackson 5. Probably the loudest record ever. Like you should hear it just coming off the needle. Same with the A&M promo 45 of Banapple Gas by Cat Stevens. Not sure if the stock copy is like that, but holy shyte its loud. Which brings to mind. Those older "For Airplay Use" or those "For DJ's Only" 45s that i swear are cut way hotter then normal 45s to overide the compression that the radio station puts on the single before it goes out on the air. Thats why those albums sound louder then those 80s Promos that WEA, Atlantic and ? Where it says promo in the small hole area. That way, they can just drill it out, as its still a stock copy with a big hole.
@RobertFithen Жыл бұрын
I've also noticed some promo 45's that are way hot. I always assumed it was because they thought it would be played again and again and wanted to make sure it didn't sound worn out. Some have said it was to make the song louder and catch people's attention when played on the radio, but radio compressors and limiters would take care of that.
