Lucier's friendship with Father Frank is one of the main reasons why Episode 9 is my favorite episode in this season. I love that he doesn't hate him just because he prays to his dad. He doesn't really care who you pray to, he just cares what you do with your life. Father Frank was a good man, and I hope he made it up to heaven. Also, his reaction to Frank's death is absolutely amazing. The rage, the sorrow, the absolute vengeance. If Chloe hadn't been there, Spider dude, whatever his name was, would've... how did venom put it? Been this armless legless faceless thing rolling down the road.

Not sure if it was mentioned or if you missed it, but its *heavily* implied that if Lucifer doesn't go back to rule Hell, then *someone* would have to take his place. Like, Amenadiel for example... It doesn't give him an excuse, but does add a layer to the dichotomy between them. Lucifer is the devil but he's progressively redeeming himself of his own volition, whereas Amenadiel is still an Angel of Heaven who doesn't even REALISE how far he's fallen, all because of the fear of having to *potentially* go to Hell to rule it instead of Lucifer.

The Palmetto Situation is basically this, Malcolm was meeting with his dealers, and he was the dirty cop. Chloe didn’t trust Malcolm and followed him, while Malcolm was making a deal, he saw Chloe and was going for a gun. But then Dan shot Malcolm to protect Chloe. The whole “buying information about a dirty cop” is a hoax by Malcolm to convince Chloe, Malcolm was the dirty cop the whole time. And technically, Dan is also a dirty cop as well, back when he was partners with Malcolm, he was also involved in some pretty shady stuff, looking the other way. But when he met Chloe, he went the straight and narrow. We see more of Dan’s dirty side in the later seasons like him stealing the gun, etc

episode 9 is truly one of my favorites in the entire series, Father Frank has one of the best faith related quotes I've ever heard in a tv show - "at first I couldn't understand why God put you in my path, then it hit me, maybe He put me in yours".

People do not realise this. But lucifer can't lie. And honesty mostly has a good effect on people. Conflict is a neccisary thing for bonding. So what lucifer did at the diner at the end led to cloe and her mom talking it out. And thats good.

1. Episode 9 is easily the best episode of season 1 and one of the better episodes of the show (which says a LOT because this show has some AMAZING episodes yet to come) The scene of the literal devil and a priest playing the piano together is iconic and the whole episode is *dripping* in symbolism really. 2. Maze and Trixie's friendship is one of the best things in the whole show. Literally the main thing that helps her start her character arc; especially once we learn her past. 3. Roughly from here on each episode's respective case will usually parallel a personal issue Lucifer or his family have. Like how the struggle over the restaurant in episode 10 and "the favorite" trying to kill "the prodigal son" directly mirrors Amenadiel playing puppet master to kill Lucifer and send him back to Hell. Both percieve it as a greater good, but they completely ignore the damage being done in the process. And episode 11 is him discovering the "rush" of doing a good deed for the *right* reason as well as realising he is literally and metaphorically *vulnerable* around Chloe, who tries to be a good person like this every day.

It's a small thing, but the reason that Dan was able to get that plastic knife is because Malcolm likely had a standard utensil set with his meal. When you've even out a fair amount or gotten takeout then you're quite familiar with the set that typically includes a fork, a knife, a napkin, and also sometimes a salt+pepper connected packet. Obviously Malcolm wouldn't have needed the knife and it just slipped his mind that he dropped it as he didn't see it on the floor because Dan immediately covered it with his foot.

A big concept about Lucifer is that he's good angel who was rebellious, and that he isn't inherently evil. He punishes evil. All the lore about the Devil is based on his rebellion, not based on him actually doing bad things. Even the story of the snake in the garden of Eden is just the Devil offering enlightenment to humanity. The sin was that our eyes were opened and we were no longer ignorant and innocent, which isn't necessarily an evil thing. So yeah, this show's perspective is quite interesting; and there's some truth to it in theology.
