St. Martin's Island is unsuitable for any military base. As a coral island, it's difficult for large ships to approach, and its close proximity to Myanmar makes it vulnerable to attacks. A small, portable surface-to-surface missile from Myanmar could cause significant damage. Additionally, the island lacks mountains to shield expensive equipment and is too small to build runway for regular military aircraft . The idea of establishing a military base there is purely a fabrication by Hasina.

USA identify a lot of natural resources in around St. Martin's Island. That's why they are willing to take that island, like Syria and Iraq. Military-based is to make people fools.

It’s quite ironic that after escaping the country due to student protests and jeopardizing national interests, she now claims to prioritize national security. In recent years, numerous concessions have been made, such as allowing access to ports and creating rail and road links for India to connect with the Seven Sisters region. Yet, the talk of safeguarding the nation rings hollow, especially considering the vast sums of money that have been embezzled and laundered abroad over the past 15 years. Meanwhile, her family members are living lavishly overseas, funded by the hard-earned money of everyday Bangladeshis. Additionally, her administration has played a significant role in the alarming decline of the country's banking system.

USA just tried to take the advantage of her government. But failed from her. Near future they will try by the other government to achieve their goals and take control of this region of their hands. It’s a time of matter.

They banking sector is so dead that Banks already started packing their bag, Onlt thing saving them is they sell bond to give them few more days... Their economy is so bad that, shop lifting is new payment syster and owners can't say anything. Since government declared shop lifting as self supporting. Read, research and then open the zip... by zip i !ean mouth ... not Down.

This base is useful to US to get India to toe the line. Already on the west side Diego Garcia military base, the east side will complete the encirclement of India. With base in Singapore to control Malacca straits, there's no need for such a base so far north.

Someone says the US wanted Saint Martin Island, as Bangladeshi🇧🇩 I am giving geographic information about Saint Martin. And the US wanted a base in Saint Martin a complete propaganda of Hasina autocratic regime. "The island is so close that even it is vulnerable to artillery shells from the coast, which typically ranges from 10 to 40 km. Even the island would be susceptible to short-range land-based missiles, especially hypersonic missiles. The distance between the island and Myanmar land is less than 10 km, which would pose a significant challenge for the US to have less reaction time to detect and destroy incoming threats. Even shoulder-launched missiles from Myanmar’s mountainous terrain would create havoc for the US forces. On the contrary, the mountains provide Myanmar with natural and easy makeshift protection. With roughly only an 8 sqkm area, St Martin’s Island offers significantly less space to facilitate all infrastructure of a US military base. A military airfield typically requires quite a huge land to accommodate runways, taxiways, protected aircraft sheds, a large area for the installation of surveillance radar and other electronic equipment, barracks and other necessary infrastructure. The island’s size may pose a significant challenge in finding adequate land for a military airfield. Even operating a C-130 requires a minimum of a kilometre runway unless the US wants to operate STOL(Short Take off and Landing) aircraft."

Closest from Myanmar region which is controlled by Arakan Army which is again backed by us, so no threat at all. US can build infrastructure on land reclaimed from sea, to build a medium sized naval base and station large aircraft carriers with ease.

It is nothing but a conspiracy theory to take a attention by both party. It is easy to manipulate the sentiments of people of bangladesh. But still vital for control of surverllance over counter for security.

As you said ... It is a coral island. Even Bangladesh didn't make militery base in saint martins and relies on corvettes to protect against Myanmar. It is not suitable for military base ase 50% of the island submurges in certain periods 😂.

Please, some important points need to be highlighted that arrise many of quarries regarding Bangladesh issues on huge numbers of death- 1) Identify the persons responsible for each murder / death in the movement by conducting separate judicial investigations. It was the demand of the students that Sheikh Hasina made an inquiry committee by coordinating a judge of the High Court. Why don't we see any move to form a judicial inquiry committee now? Imposing that all the killings were carried out on the orders of Sheikh Hasina will be a boomerang one day. 2) Many students have died in police firing, but will there be an impartial investigation into the death of many students who were shot in the back from within the movement's procession in this free country? Reumor is going on that, huge numbers of students and polices were assassinated not by government or polices out of total number of deaths. Who killed them? 3) The police shot at the students' rally, the students died, of course the police are responsible. But who is responsible for the killing of 42 policemen by attacking and brutally beating them in the police station? Do you know the answer to that? 4) The argument that all traces of Bangabandhu have been erased by the agitated mob may apply to some incidents, but not in most cases. Will we see an exception to the culture of imposing on the people? It doesn't seem so. 5) 15th August 2024, Dhanmondi 32. Time, space, time, everything has been and will be depicted by the exploiters and the exploited; we will not forget them. 6). We want to know if Dr. Mohammad Younus has the honest courage to denounce his Western friends against the massacre in Gaza by Israel. 7) This nation will surely one day make the instigators, planners, financiers and those involved behind the scenes stand in the crowd to rehabilitate the war criminals in this country. 8) The attack on the Rokeya Prachi on 15th August 2024 in Dhanmondi 32 which was not broadcast in any media, proves that this government also does not believe in freedom of speech. Proven. . So far, there's a lot more to know. At the moment, independent(!) I am looking for my lost freedom in the country.
