I love both these two saints, and I very much feel like I'm in a room with all of you--you three friars, St. John of the Cross, and especially St. Therese who is gazing out at us. Thank you for doing this! It's an excellent means to understand the two saints better. Your words on the death of love is especially welcome. Yes, let's all die of love!

The first time I read, ‘ The Story of a Soul’, I remember reading only a few pages and having to close the book and hold it to my heart, in awe. I think that may have been the feeling of Therese when she read JOHN of the Cross! Especially his poetry and Therese’s love for poetry! Another beautiful episode! Thanks so much! 🌹

Hi Sinh, we're working on the issue for next season. We didn't discover the audio issues until after we recorded the whole season.

Excellent video! Would it be fair to say that neither St. John of the Cross or St. Therese have their own “spirituality,” but that each of them have faithfully given us, in their own words and through their own experience, instruction in the Way that is our Lord?

That is very well put, Ramon! As St. John of the Cross says, "The Father spoke one Word, which was his Son, and this Word he speaks always in eternal silence, and in silence must it be heard by the soul. "

Dark night of the Soul to me is not a poem. St John of the Cross, along with St Therese, were able to reach that connection with God and described their experience in such a way that others who have had the same experience could understand. To those who don't, will call it poetry. To those that do and have attained that experience with God, it's a handbook to those whom God chooses to Wake Up. And, let me tell ya, it's a feeling that you will not get from taking Theology courses or studying or talking God. No, you must Fast, practice Detachment and give up the very being of what you thought you were to become NOTHING before the Holy Spirit decides to ignite your Soul with the presence of God. These two very special people were able to experience God, the Holy Spirit, Jesus Christ and Satan because they lived both in the physical and Spiritual realm. It's a very Beautiful, pleasurable, Blessed and terrifying place to exist while your physical body is still living.

Dark Night of the Soul is BOTH a poem and a treatise. The treatise could also be called a handbook. The poem is the song of one who has passed through dark night into transforming union.

Now I’m starting to think St Johns Nada is St Thérèse Little Way. You’re on to something there friar! 26:00 Yes...One of St Thérèse favorite quotes by St John was “One receives from God all that one hopes for.” That truth comes straight from Scripture anyway.
