Killing how Julian jumped on the last sax lick to begin his solo. It's something I do when I can but that was quick!

gtr coming out of all its history: folk, blues, Indian, SongBook, bebop, harmonies spilling down into modern jazz. Creative improv that is spontaneous, displays astute musical personality with grace, charm & wit. I agree- 21st century at last

At 7:42 he TELLS the musicians where he's gonna go and at 8:04 or therebouts he goes there. When I first heard him a few years back, for some reason (maybe his old, "classic" fat dead jazz guitar tone) I dismissed him as just another retro-bunny; he was SNEAKING UP on me, I swear. Or he'd painted his toybox in camouflage while smuggling in the tricks. 8:15 to 8:23 is currently in the running for the best eight seconds of the 21st century (I collect these things)... or maybe, just maybe, it really WAS the ol' beater Tele? Keith Richards was right after all! Keep it up, Julian, maybe someday you CAN rival "Tumbling Dice".. ;>)
@belascialoja48127 жыл бұрын
Ha. I love your response. (What's a "retro-bunny?") /// I think he's still in his twenties, and for a jazz guitarist, that's a babe. Imagine this guy at forty. If you can - I can't, really.

stubhead, you're drunk. and thats ok. also, 8:15 is a chromatic run lol

sheer, utter beauty - Grows like a living thing : new players have brought Theodore Walter Rollins right into the mix . He should be so proud that the seeds he scattered have born such juicy fruit !

Guitar solo is incredible... But I expect nothing but perfection from lage at this point. What really surprised me was the sax player he was phenomenal. I loved how he started by quoting sonny Rollins solo and then he did his own thing love it!

It's Miguel Zenon. Check his discography and his quality won't surprise you. He's worked with some amazing musicians.

fantastic work by all! really enjoyed trying to focus on Julian's comping, during the sax solo, and then he kinda steals the show with his solo! excellent playing.

I don't know what has happened but Julian has gone from like being good to absolutely great in like a year? He just spiced his humble playing with a kick of confidence and now it's always on top

Gary Burton is finally blossoming on him. You know when you learn a ton of theory and practice a bunch that it doesn't show up in your playing for a while? I think that's what's happening. He has been always around the greatest at improvising. Gary Burton is a genius at improvisation. There's a youtube video of his class. Julian played with him for a looong time. Check the Tiny Desk they did together too.

He is also an extremely good listener, you can hear how he picks up an all the ideas he hears. Especially from the drummer.

Nice tone from the sax player. So matured , and I am a guitar player so every note played by Julian entered my body soul and spirit. I almost fainted as if I have never heard the sound of a guitar before.. Nice work.. All other players did great and if I start analysing there work it's going to be an epistle..

Guitarman Music 0 seconds ago The guitar solo was great , it would have been more crazier if the bassist was providing the solid groove. I would love to see how John Scofield would approach this tune
