Why is it that every time you hear a song by St Vincent you think "there's no way they can top that", yet every day brings new tracks of St Vincent awesomeness??

Can't wait in 20 years where future female artists will be "the st vincent of their generation"
@janvanderwegen019 жыл бұрын
Link The Love can't wait how FEW will have succeeded... the 'novelty' factor sadly has not to do with singer/songwriter-abililties... so goodbye in 1 year!
@kynoceph9 жыл бұрын
+Jan Vdw St. Vincent is no novelty. She's been putting albums out since 2007, and she won a Grammy in 2014. She's not going away. Just because your ear is dull and lazy doesn't mean the sounds she makes are 'novelty." On the contrary, your musical tastes must be stuck in the past.
@csiny889 жыл бұрын
+kynoceph My musical tastes are from the past and thanks to all that education I was able to shape my present musical tastes and spot great artists with impressive talent and a promissing future like St. Vincent. Past is not a bad thing.
@joefelice50629 жыл бұрын
+Jan Vdw So you are saying that in a year, there will be no females in rock & roll because this a "novelty" right now, and it will run its course. Is that correct? That's a pretty bold prediction. Joan Jett and Heart and the Pretenders and Blondie - and so many more... they are all wondering what exactly you are talking about.

I hate music on the radio today, but if this style grew popular and most artists used it, I wouldn't mind one bit.

Heidi Lynn I probably would never have heard of her if she hadn't worked with David Byrne and the same is probably true for many other people. Working with David Byrne is probably the best career move that she's ever made.
@VintageSac9 жыл бұрын
I guess it was just so different than her St.Vincent music that it wasn't my favorite, but I didn't look at it as an exposure move. I guess it would be good for that! I like both her and David Byrne on their own. His Catherine Wheel work was my favorite.

+Dorian Stretton One of the best concerts I have ever seen..it was amazing seeing Byrne and St. Vincent together. She was already coming up in music, and he sang with her because of her talent, after all, she did come from a 1million member band, Polyphonic Spree, to emerge as St. Vincent. But I agree, them two together was Awesome, to say the least!!

Does anyone know what guitar she's playing?
@kynoceph9 жыл бұрын
+Irfan Mansor It's a modified Fender Lead II (www.tdpri.com/forum/attachments/other-guitars-other-instruments/42074d1267223024-forgotten-fenders-fender-lead-guitars-26-february-2010-007x-jpg) Just before Fender's redemption and comeback in the 1980s, they put out some oddball guitars. The Lead I (one pickup) and the Lead II (two pickups, natch) were supposed to be quality entry level guitars aimed at young players. They turned out to be much better than that, but unfortunately they were discontinued due to their unpopularity with people who only wanted Strats or Teles, nothing in between. (This was before Jaguars and Jazzmasters came back from the dead to conquer the 90s.) Great guitars, if you find one snag it.

@anneother62246 жыл бұрын
craig cotter Silly comment. St Vincent makes no great claims for it - says it is bananas. You might think of it as a scherzo to advantage. It is a vehicle for sublime soloing and there is this fantastic propulsion driven not just by the drums but also by the melodies in the synths which force it to an inevitable orgasmic outcome. Or it really rocks live as others have said.
