@trishaannglynn77285 жыл бұрын
Who needs more? The ticket and t-shirt buying, music downloading, cd shuffling audience. Those sounds you hear around her: drum machine, recorded keyboards, violins? bass. She does "Masseduction" with a sax player. It brings down the house. Yes, give her the center stage spotlight. Seriously that lying on the floor number was excellent. But, this is a concert, an event. Please, bring out the band.

I was at this show. I've seen her for the Actor tour as well as the Strange Mercy and St. Vincent stops in Metro Detroit. While this performance was a departure from other performances, I wouldn't fault her for it. I can appreciate what she has done for this tour just as I can the others as her performances, IMO, have only gotten better regardless of the presence of a backing band. I do really enjoy the new album as it seems to be a synthesis of her first two albums and her last two albums in terms of production and style.

I am pretty new to St Vincent. Now own all the records and listen to them obsessively. Watching previous tour videos its obvious that something very special can happen live. Perhaps for the first time there has been some strong negative reaction to this show. So I found I hardly dared to watch this in case it was properly justified. My idol might have feet of clay, would suffer total meltdown and we would not have a future together. So I have been watching through my fingers, hardly daring to look. But what do you know, I've been a bad believer. This is fine actually and nothing to be frightened of. Phew! Looking forward to enjoying the fully alchemised tour and live performances this summer.

I went to see her on her last tour and it was one of the most amazing gigs I've seen. Fantastic mesmerising performer, consumate creative guitarist with a great band. Have to say though that seeing her playing over backing tracks looks like a pretty sterile experience and not my idea of a proper live show. Still love the new album though.

exactly i couldn't words ....yeah kinda sterile experience with out the band kinda....but still a great performance by a great artist
@trevscribbles7 жыл бұрын
I'm sure it's due to a personal preference of hers for this tour, but working with a premeditated series of effects controlled by people behind the scenes really takes away from her staggering abilities as one of the most spontaneous and imaginative guitarists of this generation.

One thing you can always count on w Annie Clark, she's going to challenge you and do things differently. Crazy courage to do an entire concert by yourself all over the country and the world. In some ways this is incredibly difficult to watch. In other ways it really doesn't get any more intimate. How hard is it to see someone stripped completely bare? Answer that question and I think you catch the meaning. . .

some of these are fantastic, especially Now, Now & The Strangers. Marry Me and Strange Mercy are also very cool, but overall this felt a little too metallic and "tinny". a lot of the solos felt really flimsy in comparison to that thick, ripping fuzz she usually uses. that Cruel solo, too ... :x I really respect and appreciate that she did this, though. great way to sell her new signature guitar front and center and try re-working older songs into what she's currently doing artistically.

don't quite get the Taylor Swift outfit envy... panty hose! ack! It detracts from her excellent guitar chops. Why do women feel they have to play the sexy card to get an audience? Too sad.
@VHSback4 жыл бұрын
Taylor Swift's are a lot safer and less fashionable than that. Personally I like this outfit, it is very outgoing and to me more comparable to Lady Gaga, David Bowie and Freddy Mercury. Also it fits with the tour. In the second part of the concert she changes outfits, to something more conservative, which fits as the songs are more personal there.

I've seen this show in Dublin in October. This is without any doubt the shittiest "live concert" I've ever attended. Completely pointless, all about costumes and guitar change (the same model of course). Is this the way pop music is going? To me it was a real shameless ripoff.
