Nice vid, my Pan is 26 years old and 94tkm. The original belt still inside. Gonna change this winter. I checked the belt, looks ok after 26 years. Honda did the great job building these bikes. Thanks for the vid. Very useful.

Hi Viktor. To be honest my belt didn't look bad at all when I took it off and I suspect that someone might have done the job before. It was originally an unmarked Police bike and I wondered if they changed the belts at lower mileages. Anyway, I sleep better at night knowing that its done. Best wishes Stu

stuartadair I was just wondering, if you have had marked the old belt still inside on the alignement and then those markings use to mark a new belt, then the job should be quite easier for installing the new one? I mean , even if the old belt is little bit streched, still the teeths on the old and new belt should make same align if your copy-paste position on the pully's and the crankshaft from old to new belt. It would make much easier and quicker install with no mistakes. Or maybe I'm wrong? Cheers

Hi. Your quite correct and its a method I've seen used before. I've also seen the old belt cut through its length so its 1/2 width, then the new belt slid on next to the old belt belt before the old one is cut through and removed and I think both are valid methods. However, as the timing marks are so clearly marked on the Pan i just opted for removing the old belt in the traditional method. As long as you tension the belt correctly, rotate the engine a couple of turns and recheck that the timing marks line up then you're all good to go. Best wishes Stu

Most useful biker video yet on the tube, many thanks. Put the laptop in the garage and pause slide by slide...easy! Run it again and reverse list. Tip: re-connect top hose before fitting rad bolts.....old rubber don't move!

thanks for the clear explanation, just done mine, the original Honda belt, with 150k KM and 32years on it, still looks in good shape. would like to check the markings online to see if it is the original belt or if it's been replaced at some point, got the ST1100 with 106k on her. not sure why the clutch cover needs to come off? while at it, might as well replace the clutchplates though 😊
