Stabicraft 2050 Supercab Touring the Seattle Waterfront | Stabicraft on the Sound

Today we took the Stabicraft 2050 Supercab down south and went touring the Seattle waterfront. It was too rough to fish comfortably, and after only catching a squid last weekend we decided to take the Stabicraft moto to heart, Adventure with Confidence! We thought the trip would be about 30 miles each way, but with the land contours to navigate around it ended up being between 70-75 miles round trip.
The trip down was slow and rough and into the sea the entire way. We may have averaged 10 MPH. Without the time to stop and find a sheltered low wave are to boil water and make coffee, we added an old school Stanley Thermos to the tools we carry on board. I found one that holds nearly a pot and a half of coffee!
Once we hit Seattle we did a slow cruise through the water front and tried to film as much as possible while keeping the lens clear of rain and salt water spray.

Yes we are doing better thank you. Staying very hydrated, resting and monitoring our oxygen levels. I tested positive last week, my wife tested negative a day after me but has the symptoms, so she is getting tested again today. So far so good. Thank you for asking.

How far offshore could this boat take you?

As an owner of the same make and model, you are only limited by your fuel supply. Using the rule of thirds, 1/3 Out...1/3 Back...1/3 Reserve, we figure 40-45 miles out depending on conditions. This is with the 40 gallon underfloor tank and a 150hp four stroke outboard. Incredibly safe and efficient hulls. If you want to go further for tuna, for instance, just carry a portable fuel bladder.

My 2010, 2050 with a 2010, 150 e-tech has a cruising speed of 22 mph burning 6 gph, in 0 to 3 foot waves. Under deck fuel tank holds 39 gallons. Depending on wind and sea conditions that translates to about a 140 mile range. Following the 1/3 rule, that is roughly a 92 mile round trip. If I plan to go further, every extra 5 gallon jug will add approximately 18 miles more range. (Make darn sure your fuel transport method is reliable and practice your tank refill method before you head out. Especially in heavy seas) Keep in mind wind direction, currents and boat load. Back up your electronics with a hand held gps and vhf. Have fun!

100% what Jon said. The only limitation to these things is the tiny tank. I figure max 150 miles with the 1/3 rule in calm'ish waters. I also don't have a lot of faith in my fuel gauge accuracy. Before summer we're looking at some fuel bladders to see if we can extend the range out, time out trolling, and time back.

@@StabicraftontheSound Thankfully all 2050’s now have a 52 gallon tank (200L) which should really help. I have a 2050SC on order and can’t wait for it to arrive!
