A software so revolutionary that it is now embedded in tools in many video editors!

Hi! Thanks so much for this excellent tutorial! Just came back from Thailand, bought new Canon EOS 77D before I left. Didn't switch on image stabiliser resulting in terrible shaky unusable footage. Now, I can use it in my KZbin video. Thanks again!

I've made some nightmare footage at least somewhat usable with this, probably not as good as a paid software but pretty incredible for what it is. Enjoy the new camera!

Also I'm not sure if you noticed this, but the output file has lower overall contrast in after the conversion. Do you know how to stop Virtualdub from doing that? I can see that it's doing it to your video as well.

At 4:00 in the video, after applying Pass 2 deshaker, do you have to press play with the "o" and let it play out? Or has it already been de-shaken/stabilized, and I can continue already to compress and export? (if I have a long video, I don't want to have to "let it play out") Thanks for this video!
@PointofParallax5 жыл бұрын
For the pass to apply, you have to let it play out unfortunately. Tedious but I usually run long vids right before I go to bed or head out somewhere.
@Rachominator5 жыл бұрын
@@PointofParallax thanks again! Anyway, the first pass (and the compression) is really the long process. What's a few more minutes? :)
@rmnrmn7274 Жыл бұрын
Why you said 32bit version virtualdub can't process 4k video? it can.
@Chasing_Solitude4 жыл бұрын
Do we have to press the "play button wan a 0" after pass 2? Or can we go directly to compression? I just have a very long video and wasn't sure if watching it after pass 2 was necessary. Thanks!!
@LShadow772 жыл бұрын
"Run video analyses pass" is immediately closed after clicking it, and nothing is happened! No warnigs, no error messages. Just it doesn't work! It looks like the VirtualDub is totally bullshit!..(((

*Hi there* many thanks for your awesome video & software. Can i ask something please? Video stablization is great!!! ~ but the audio is out of sync. No probs because i can decouple the audio from the video and insert sound track from the original and tweak it. Is the sound always off? or is there a setting ive missed please? Thank you :)
@PointofParallax4 жыл бұрын
Hi, I've never run into a sound syncing issue, but to be honest 95% of what I make has a backing track that I sync up in Shotcut (free video editor) after I've stabilized my clips. There is no additional audio setting that I've ever had to play with in VirtualDub.
@DiyEcoProjects4 жыл бұрын
@@PointofParallax Many thanks for your reply The file im using is a DJI Osmo Pocket = mp4 / 60fps / 48khz audio sterio 388kbps And it outputs it as = mp4 / 60fps / 48khz audio sterio 1536kbps ... i wonder if thats the problem? Other than that the 4k video is awesome, so methinks will just have to live with it and sync up the audio manually. Sharing a list of settings if youre interested. All the best, kieron I have an windows 10, Asus Rog Stix GL703v Settings as described in your great video ibb.co/YpKgR1v ibb.co/6W7qJkK Video compression applied on the final output: x264vfw_full_44_2851bm_44825

You need to convert the video to CFR (Constant Frame Rate) first. You can do that in Handbrake (software).

I been following your instructions but It's not letting me use a MP4 file in Virtual Dub. Any advice?
@PointofParallax4 жыл бұрын
Almost all of the files I use in Vdub are mp4, so that's weird to hear. Try renaming the file to ".mp4" at the end? Or even ".Avi" even if it's an mp4 just to see if it loads.
@StoneAgeProductionsAdventure4 жыл бұрын
@@PointofParallax Thanks for the quick reply but I have deleted the software and decided to just stick to Shotcut. I was only trying out because you said in your shotcut stabilisation video that virtualdub had better results. I may give it another go in the future.. I also have given your channel a sub..
@PointofParallax4 жыл бұрын
@@StoneAgeProductionsAdventure I do find Vdub has better results but I've actually been playing with Shotcut's stabilization a bit and I think it's improved (unless my footage is just less shaky these days). I maximized my analysis parameters in Shotcut for the stabilization and it turned out really well. Also takes way less time to analyze than Vdub. Also thanks for the sub :)

@@PointofParallax Make sure to use Virtualdub2 which is a fork of the original. Has full support for MANY formats loading and saving. (look into Neatvideo if you want to clean videos in VD2, amazing results)

I love this video! I'm in a time crunch so I'll just ask here and hope for a response. After I do pass 1, I follow your instructions, but it does not restart the video to the beginning for pass two. If I manually adjust it to the beginning, it's like it turns off the deshake option. Any advice?
@PointofParallax6 жыл бұрын
Are you clicking "run video analysis pass" (at 2:17) for pass 1, or are you clicking the play button at the bottom left? For pass 1, you only click "run video analysis pass", so the video should not be playing until pass 2. Pass 1 is just a frame-by-frame analysis of the video. You should not have to manually adjust the playhead to the beginning, it should stay where it is until you get to pass 2 and click play button with the "O" on it.

Very helpfull video, many thx for this. All the dam software who cost money and all the dump demos/sharewares who dont do anything - bye bye. (and VirtualDump i have use it for many, many years, (over 20) i have use it to show with my TVcards and little things at the internet). Its very fast and smal. To convert things, to make smal things with many otions - this is a grat programm. But its not realy nice for beginners. Its more like an dos programm (you must know, what you do) - than its realy powerfull.

hey bro.. i have lags when i'm doing velocity.. will this help me?
@PointofParallax5 жыл бұрын
Lags? Like lagging video from fast motion? I don't think this will help, but if you can't shoot at higher frame rates I believe there is a software out there that can try to interpolate extra frames into your video to smooth out stuttery motion (if this is what you're looking for). I just forget what the program is.

Great tutorial. Steps clear and conscise. I just wasn't impressed by the stabilization outcome. That jelly stabilization is basically unusable
@PointofParallax3 жыл бұрын
Thank you. Yea it's the best stabilization I can find for free, it works really well if you only have a bit of jitter and it's very good for non-rotational shake, but I find it does get that gross jelly look if the camera shake is rotational.
