Stable electricity supply boosts manufacturing in SA

Eskom's decision to suspend rolling blackouts has helped the manufacturing sector curb steep declines in production amid data by Statistics SA showing that 6 out of 10 manufacturing divisions recorded a drop in production in May 2024. Participants at a roundtable discussion, which looked at invigorating South Africa's manufacturing sector through localisation and business empowerment maintained, hailed Eskom's decision. SABC News economics reporter Katlego Legodi spoke to some participants regarding challenges and opportunities in the sector.
