Smart little Momo is a reflection of the person teaching her. You're so kind and patient as she tries to understand what you want her to do that she keeps resisting the urge to flee. I truly wish there were more trainers like you, Graeme. Horses and their humans would be so much better off.

I love the was that she snuggled up to you. It reminded me when I was training my Mustang and she walked up to me and planted her head into my chest. It was a milestone of trust built up, I had tears in my eyes. That horse was 17 years old when I rescued her and so wild and afraid of man that she would panic when anyone was around her. I had a trainer start her because I couldn't get near her. I recused her in 2019 and I hired the trainer in 2014. It was really an incredible moment. She learned to trust people.

I am continually amazed at how patient you are & how quickly and quietly your horses learn. It’s wonderful to watch.

She is super👍😍 she does so well..she is a quick learner, she observes and remains calm. Normal that the first contact with the tarp be a bit worrying, noise, colour, size..but since you handle the monster, she trusts you that it's not going to kill her !

I love how much you can see her thinking. She wants reassurance so bad. I think that's why she is on top of Yoka so much too wanting that parental reassurance.

Reminds me of my Yorkie in "puppy Kindergarten" where owners are taught. An important command was to say what you want, not what you don't want. It was NOT "stop barking" it was "QUIET". Funny but it was the same in my teacher's "classroom management" course. Students talking were told "QUIET" not to stop talking. Are horses the same?

Humans should be doing that to everything on the planet, most especially themselves, let alone horses :) It's amazing we even have to teach such a concept, but we do....

Great training session. I really like how you acknowledge her worry and reassure her. This is not easy for a horse and it was so cute when you told her so. Humor is definitely needed when working with horses, they can do some really weird stuff on you.

This is part 2 of the Master Class on groundwork with Mocha, our baby 1 year old mustang rounded up just a few months ago. After meeting all her medical needs and getting halter training and acclimation done, it's now time to get on with teaching her how to move around people a bit more on a halter and tackling obstacles created by humans. Wanted to clear up a comment I had asked if you might eventually have her go around you a couple of times to teach her to give space so that she doesn’t accidentally run into you. I didn’t suggest lunging at all really. Is there a place for a leading to driving exercise? Is it important to you about having a horse stop when you stop while leading? And do you bother with disengaging hindquarters when driving or sending around you in a circle a couple of times? They say that if the horse can do that, she gives up her ability to flee, placing her in a vulnerable position leading her to trust more knowing you’ll take care of her. Thank you for your opinions!

There's so much to cover that I'll have to make a video. I can say quickly though that the premise of the ideas and thing we want are both misconceived in these classical ways of thinking about and working with horses.
