Lovely to see you all in a longer video. You've got to do what's best for you and your family and you clearly enjoy the gaming side. My step-grandson is into gaming and I've suggested he looks at your new one, I don't know much about it myself but might give it a go one day! The horses look happy and well and look like they love rolling on the soggy ground. We've just had a major storm through the UK and it's sadly brought a big pine tree down in the church yard across from us, luckily it has caused no damage.

Hi there Graeme, so beautiful at your place, that light is fantastic. Thanks for the video, loved it. All the horses look so well and happy. It's rained with very strong wind here in the UK for 2 days solid so soggy is the word of the week. Took the electric out at the barn with falling massive tree. Electric infrastructure company brought in a generator for us. Luckily my horse lives on sandy soil nowadays so not too much mud. Great game, thanks for sharing that too, much appreciated. 😊

Hope you all have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Thank you for taking time to share. Just curious as to your thoughts on grooming. How often should we brush our horses because in the wild they groom each other!
@StableHorseTraining13 күн бұрын
My pleasure :) I think grooming can mean a lot of things. Brushing horses is always nice of course and I don't think can be overdone. Braiding manes and tails and forelocks and washing horses should be kept to a bare minimum if done much at all. When brushing, always see if you've hit the right spot instead of just randomly brushing all over and focus on it as the horses love it. Grooming should be for the horse, not the person (as I see quite often)

One more question lol. Why do horses have such a long forelocks? It would seem they would have trouble avoiding corneal abrasions (scratches on eye surface that can really be uncomfortable). I remember you working with Lena’s forelock when it got iced up in winter. Have you ever had an issue with this potential problem, or is it even a thing?
@StableHorseTraining16 күн бұрын
I think the main reason they have them is to protect their eyes actually. Limits flies, probably things flying in the wind and it a quick detection for thing touching their head and face. Cutting it is a human desire to not have hair in their face and vanity, it's not functional for the horse to be short. I've never heard of an eye injury due to forelock.
@kkdoc786416 күн бұрын
Wish there was an easy way to have a short child’s hand rake to scratch dirty horses. Maybe on your person like on a tool belt? You used to have one as i recall. Most of my suggestions fall short of being practical, though lol.
