17:00 Rasta speaking on being in or out of the limelight, "Because we can speak we think we should, and I don't think that's a good idea, I think we should hold back, and when we feel like we actually have something substantial to say, we say it, and the rest of the time we shut our mouths. We look after our families, we look after ourselves, we just stay chill. And don't just keep doing shit, keep the wheels turning. That's what this was about." His wisdom, as he explains, comes out of his own evolved and cultivated life. Tend your garden, charity begins at home, no man is an island... Also note the generosity, grace, and 'manners' shown by DR in all his comments. He didn't learn that online, I promise you. Or compare Rasta with the greatest surfer of all time, the GOAT, and ask yourself which one would you rather be, whose life do you most admire? Who goes to better parties, eats better food, dates the more beautiful interesting women, who has the better experiences, the better sense of self? There's a song called "Going Down Slow" that goes, 'Man, you know I done enjoyed things that kings and queens ain't never had. In fact, things kings and queens can't never get. And they don't even know about it And good times? Well...I have had my fun, If I never get well no more'. Take it from the man.

Funny you mentioned the GOAT - extremely self centered and absent father. Many ‘greats’ have shit personal lives

DH not missing a chance to tell you he taught them all to shape. The man’s a marketing machine I’ll give him that.

Why is the whole crowd talking over shapers 💀

I think it's got to do with audio routing. When they are using 6 mics it's easier to just record the audio from the speakers and when it's just Dave talking they just record audio straight from his mic. Could be wrong

I don't know why but its the same at all the Aint That Swell Live events.. People pay to get in then just talk shit at the bar, not even looking at the stage. Its so annoying

From moment one, it's young generation programming, even with respect to Rasta's surfing and perspective. Gather a lot of groms into a room, all star srtuck and receptive, then show 'em how things should be done... Bro, who wouldn't agree at that age with those lines? Just sayin. Rasta is an uber-talented guy. Let the groms follow as they will, without twin fins being a neccesary price of admission to the cool club.

Thought it was an American thing. Look at the movie "rush hour". The American guy says to Jackie Chan "it ain't you all, it's Y'all !" 😂. We get everything from Americans. 😂

When he sht on golfing, he became a gate keeper no different than corporate board members who look down on surfers. He's a lucky idiot who has no clue just how much of a literal markeitng tool he really is even when he's shting on marketing tools. He's the ultimate self meme.

Yeah i agree mate (kind of). Never golfed in my life, but he’s a massive narcissist. All he does is talk shit about people and tell the public how to live. Great surfer, but also his refusal to ever ride a thruster again (his words) shows how closed minded he actually is.
