I'm new to cross stitch & have been watching parking videos. This is the absolute best one I've seen! Thank you so much for taking the time to share this with us! I've saved it to refer back to it when I do a project where parking will be beneficial. I haven't even looked yet to see if you even have more videos, I just subscribed cause with just this one video it's worth it! Happy stitching! 💜

Staci - this was SO helpful. Your tone and pacing were great. I am a beginner, but I want to know about advanced techniques so they can begin “percolating” in my brain. This was the best video so far for parking.

Thank you. Your explanation of how to move in either straight or diagonal directions was very helpful. I have watched many of the videos to learn how to do a full coverage and no one else started from this perspective. It was very helpful.

Thank you for the explanations and the examples of how and what the differences are. My brain does not want to comprehend things explained any other way. So this makes a difference for me.

Thanks! You explain the pros and cons of parking so well. And now I found out that you can mix parking with other techniques as you see fit. Thanks ❤!!

Thank you for explaining in detail and showing how to do the parking method. I've also watched so many videos, and I didn't understand until watching your video. Visual overload is helpful for me personally😊. My next thing to learn is pattern keeper. I've gone into it, and I just get lost and 😕. Again, thanks for sharing.

@@CinCitylicious I’m so glad it has helped! Parking is a great method when mixed a little bit with cross country to speed up time and effort. I mix the two methods because traditional parking is way too strict, sometimes I just have to stitch the few stitches that are outside the parking 10x10. I also have a video for pattern keeper… kzbin.info/www/bejne/lauZdHaoZd-Aq6csi=4wBQZdW1frXAWiJs

You started the first 10 x 10 square in the upper left corner. Why wouldn't you start the next 10 x 10 square in the upper left corner, too?
@SassyStaci Жыл бұрын
Yes you very well could. As I explain throughout the video, this is why I mix the parking with a cross country stitching method. Seems wasteful of time to just do one 10x10 at a time and not an entire area of a pattern. So I will do an entire 30x40 or so area at once and park outside the area. I show 10x10 because that is the “traditional” way to park.

Do you notice block lines in your projects stitched with parking? I love the ease of only focusing on one square but I always notice those vertical lines and they don't seem to wash out for me, so now I inevitably end up doing a mix between parking and cross country to avoid those harsh ending lines
@SassyStaci2 жыл бұрын
Yes I notice it with large areas of the same color. Most of my parking is a lot of confetti though. If you were to stitch on the diagonal instead of horizontal or vertical that would help some. I always do a mixture of parking and cross country anyway just for the ease and time saving of it anyway.

How would you do it if your pattern doesn't start at the top it's like in the middle Of your 14 count
@SassyStaci Жыл бұрын
You can totally start in the middle 10x10 and work your way outward. 👍🏼 Might be a little more difficult to work around the parked threads without accidentally grabbing them with your current thread. But that’s okay
@trinaportner4125 Жыл бұрын

I c some people use something to put their thread around so the threads stay out of ur way while ur stitching. What is it they use. Do u know !
@DahHar117 Жыл бұрын
What I hate about cross-stitch the most is the threading of the needle. It seems that I could use a bunch of needles and instead of unthreading ALL of the parked-thread I could just stick it (twice, as if to sew) in the outer perimeter of the project in the direction I am advancing until I need it again. What do you think?
@SassyStaci Жыл бұрын
You could do this but that would be to me, a TON of needles because there’ll be more than 50 strands parked at once for me. I have no problem threading needles (for now) and don’t feel like it takes up time.
@jonathandpg61153 ай бұрын
you can get a needle threader and it won't be as painful

With traditional cross stitch you start in the middle so you can center the picture, but with parking method you start at the top, how do you make sure the picture is centered if you don’t start in the middle?
@SassyStaci Жыл бұрын
You have to do all the measuring necessary. The dimensions of the stitched area plus 6” should be your fabric size. That way your fabric will have a 3” margin on every edge (top, left, right, and bottom). Then when you start stitching in the top corner, measure 3” off the edges to start.

Very Very new to this technique. How did u no w/o counting where to start that next stitch from doing the 1st stitches in red then u went way across without counting how far it was from the 1st stitching. Not understanding unless I missed you saying already. Also with thus technique your 1st starting is that we just make sure the fabric is size of pattern and just tart from top left or whereecer you choose to start?
@SassyStaci2 жыл бұрын
I counted it silently in my head rather than out loud, but yes I do count it to make sure I’m putting my thread in the correct space. At 14:30 in the video you can see me doing this. Most large full coverage pieces should be started in the top corner leaving 3” margins above and beside your first stitch for extra fabric edges. So however large your pattern is, your fabric should be at least 6” larger on length and width for those margins.
@susanc11792 жыл бұрын
This was an excellent tutorial! I’ve done a few projects but am starting my first larger, full coverage project. I use the sewing method so im not sure how to incorporate parking into my stitching. Do you think it’s possible to park without a hoop of some sort? Thanks
@SassyStaci Жыл бұрын
The hoop just makes it so much easier to organize because you can tuck the parked threads in the edges of the hoop or qsnap frame.
@wolflady58 Жыл бұрын
Interesting I've been stitching 40 years and I've never did cross country. But your cross country isn't what I'd call cross country. However people that I know that does cross country do all of one color on the whole pattern.
@SassyStaci Жыл бұрын
That’s why I said in the video that it’s a mixture of methods.
