This is simply revolutionary. As long as you find efficient ways to dispense items. You just multiplied the standard sorter speed by 64... that is: if people change the way they do sorters but I think they will. That's not incremental improvement we're talking about, it's HUGE.

This is so game changing for fast farms where conventionally you would need 1991 (see the greatness of that pun?) sorters!!
@generalmisery2 жыл бұрын
Funny enough I was looking for something like that earlier today. I need something that can filter items and send them to hoppers with 1 block vertically in between them. You could use hoppers, but they are slow and you really get speed problems with 15 hoppers. This works really well for that (with a few changes). So basically with this thing you can make more compact storage. I am refining a storage system where you call items using 2 lecterns and a leaver (450 different items).

Those are actually nice contraptions, It's interesting how I was working on similar system of "hoperless" sorting just today xD Well without this trick, was using different hitboxes to align items from different mobs in a mob farm in a single water stream. Was also stacking items into full stacks so it's less laggy

You don't disappoint, MethodZz! You might have been gone for a while, but you return with the goods! Taking an already impressive concept and taking it to a new place and changing bulk item handling forever. This solves so many problems, my mind is reeling with the prospect of stack sorting. The efficiency gain! I am dreaming of a Brobdingnagian scale sorting system now... And thankyou for the link to the original mob sorter! I have needed a machine to break up stacks of carts, and it stacks them so neatly!

VERY promising concept. Especially the slimeblock sorters at the end. But for me it isn't 100% reliable at 12gt. I've tried making some modifications to the design, but couldn't make it faster than 14gt. Can it handle constant stream of items at 12 gt?

Props to you Methodzz for giving lots of credit to the discoverer of the entity separation technique! Could someone explain why the contraption at 5:04 looks like that? I get how the hopper part works, but I want to know 1. why it's useful to have it sort items in two directions at once, does it have to do with a 2-wide portal and if so can't you instead have all items come out of a single portal block instead? 2. I also don't get what the dried coral blocks are for; I assume it manipulates some kind of update order, but why would update order need to be manipulated if you aren't duping TNT? 3. Is it absolutely necessary to use this trick with the waterlogged stairs at 7:57 to get flowing water? Can the water that's pushing back not instead just be a regular source block that's flowing one block in the direction of the slime block and then flowing down to the side? 4. Also, is it possible to have a regular block push the items instead of a slime block, or is the slime block crucial for the stack separation to work? The original reddit post that separates creepers doesn't seem to use a slime block, so I'm guessing you just needed it so the items are flung further across the ice?
@MethodZzS2 жыл бұрын
1.bringing speed from 16 gt to 10 by simply mirroring it, you can drop items in either of these 2 blocks doesnt matter if you use both or one or randomize inbetween 2.coral stops the budded pistons from "shaking" without having a hitbox like a normal block that would mess with the items 3. can be flowing water but might change timings of clock. 4. slimeblock is needed to get enough acceleration in this setup, if you just wanted to do 1 item i guess piston maybe works but then theres also no point in sorting you only have 1 item :) hope this answered it all
@sanderbos42432 жыл бұрын
@@MethodZzS That did answer it all, thank you! :D

Hm, when i look at the numbers a stack is not sorted thru, there is one item per stack lost. Were does that end up? And using this to filling shulker boxes would make that part inconvenient, filling with stacks of 63 is not that great.
@theosib2 жыл бұрын
The hoppers look full. How does sending an item past a full hopper detect the type of the item?
@dramwertz48332 жыл бұрын

Does it sort them by age because the slime block creates a list of items and the oldest items are at the top of the list, and thus get moved first? If so does this behavior stay the same on chunk reloading? How does it behave if two different items are spawned in the same tick?
@MethodZzS2 жыл бұрын
no clue what happens on chunkreload have to test that but same tick doesnt matter there is still an update order (a time diffrence ) edit: seems like order is preserved on chunkunload so thats really good news
@druser66132 жыл бұрын
I've heard that it actually sorts it by the order in which it enters a chunk section, rather than age.
@MethodZzS2 жыл бұрын
@@druser6613 only if you push it with a piston, slimeblock gets rid of these issues completly, but you are right apparently we could change the order by dropping in items from diffrent chunks then use a normal piston etc
@TFirsty2 жыл бұрын
@@MethodZzS Well it sounds consistent which is good.
@placeholderhere28642 жыл бұрын
My guess would be that the items are added to a list with their age, sorted from top down for despawning maybe and they just use that same list for what item to proccess first

You can make a really crazy bartering system where you use cells with 24 piglins and just push everything in the overworld(aligned) where you can control what do you need to sort, like you dont need more iron nuggets or string ext. after you have a double chest of it. You can also use the same system to distribute gold supply for the droppers.

Since this works with stacks of items, i suppose it also separates unstackable items? And what happens to full shulker boxes with identical content - do they get separated one by one or as a stack?
@tyrannus002 жыл бұрын
it doesnt work with unstackables since it needs to pick up one item in the hoppers to check if its the correct type - which wont work with unstackables
@Boyenn2 жыл бұрын
Ignore Tyr, he misunderstood your question. * Yes, it does seperate an unstackable item, as that's also a "stack". ( Obviously it doesn't sort them, like @tyrannus said, but that wasn't your question ). * For full shulker boxes: Unless you have some carpetrul tomfoolery, they are still pure unstackables. NBT data ( content ) doesn't matter, they get seperated one by one.
