Oh yeah, I used some of my old drafting gear just today to make a gasket for a water pump on an old (1970's) diesel engine. Although, I was using Koh-i-Noor gear rather than Staedtler :)

I remember these tools when studying graphic design back in 1986. this video has taken me back to a time before we used computers to produce designs. Something organic about using these tools

+lorrane Fascinating techniques, do you still use any of the skills?

I remember having set of green "French Curves" from Logarex (sub-company of KOH-I-NOOR making rulers and especially slide rulers). I had absolutely no idea what they were for, so I used the long one as a toy submachine gun... =D

+Errol Completely suitable alternative use, I approve.

That's an awesome pencil. It's a little strange to see pencils without erasers haha. Nice video.

Do I use these? Well, I've had a set of curves for a long time, but never got the hang of it. Recently I have been trying to copy a pattern on a Shang dynasty bronze (say 1300 BCE) and decided to give my French curves a try, so I came here. Thanks, and greetings from Taiwan. PS: In Chinese, French curves is 雲規 cloud ruler.

I have to ask, did you draw a xenomorph from the movie Alien at 1:12, great review! When will you update your edc?
@WoodGraphite8 жыл бұрын
+Noelle Mattison I'm so glad someone spotted that! I love the Alien movies, even though I can't draw. EDC video is on the back burner, but not for much longer, I wanted to let it change enough to make a video interesting, probably this month/early next? Got a few other fun EDC centric videos planned too (:

Where did you get those schematic drawings of Millennium Falcon and the Nostromo? I didn't realise i needed them until now XD

Google Image search. I think they are originally from the RPF (:

I still use these especially the french curves and mechanical pencils for art no electricity consumed at least for the drawing part.

I found the mars technico at my local Office Depot in Mexico which costed $200MX about 100 dolllars and I thought that was a little expensive but it was well worth buying it.
