As I play this song at midnight on Sep 21, 2024, the day before I'm finally 18, this song marks the end credits of my childhood, like the Wii version did for someone else. At least I'm one of many who remember how good the New Super Mario Bros. Series was. Thank you, Nintendo, for always producing great games. My first Mario game was in 2012, when I only five. Thirteen years later, I still love the Mario series.

This is the ultimate Mario credits song to me. Everything about it, from the grandiosity and celebratory feeling of the instruments, how wonderfully the vocals compliment them, the little musical callbacks, the swells, the section where it feels like the developers themselves are clapping for your victory, the confident yet playful ending, and how all of that perfectly compliments the image of Mario running through the kingdom with the Princess in his arms.

I played through all the 2D Mario games in prep for Wonder. Oddly enough, this ended up being my favorite one. The fantastic level design (not to mention the coin ASMR), equipped with the solid core gameplay, makes this a rich experience.

Honestly, the Bah sounds make this sound even better than NSMB Wii & U's credits theme. It's the same exact song as Wii's, but this one just seems livelier with the added vocals.

OMG, I love this song so much! I really want all of the music from New Super Mario Bros. Wii and New Super Mario Bros. 2, especially this song, to be reused in New Super Mario Bros. 3 when it’s made! I really want to write lyrics for this song for New Super Mario Bros. 3, and it’ll be sung from Princess Peach’s perspective as she expresses her love for Mario! Here’s my idea for the beginning of the story: It’s a beautiful sunny day in the Mushroom Kingdom, and Princess Peach is taking a stroll with two of her Toad servants when they find a door in a hill. Curious, Peach opens the door, and she and her servants step through it. When they do, they find themselves in the Dream Kingdom, which made its debut in Super Mario Bros. 2. It used to be called Subcon, but I decided to change its name because it shared it with its inhabitants, the Subcons. As its name implies, the Dream Kingdom is the source of all dreams in the Land of Make Believe (that’s what I call the world where the Mushroom Kingdom and the various other kingdoms in the Mario series are located). Peach and her servants are very surprised to learn that the Dream Kingdom is a real place, and they become even more surprised when some Subcons appear and recognize Peach as one of the four heroes who saved them from Wart. Realizing that the events of Super Mario Bros. 2 were real after all, Peach happily greets them and tells them how she and her servants found the door and arrived in the Dream Kingdom, and the Subcons are delighted because now she and her friends can come there any time they want. Then they take Peach and her servants to the nearby castle where their ruler lives. When they go inside, the Subcons tell their ruler, Princess Marzipan, that she has visitors. She thanks them and goes to meet her unexpected guests. When she does, she and Peach introduce themselves, and they hope to become fast friends. Peach and Marzipan decide to form a trading agreement between their kingdoms because each one has some things that the other doesn’t. Marzipan tells Peach to come back tomorrow so they can sign the agreement and go on a picnic afterwards. Peach agrees, and she and her servants say goodbye to Marzipan and the Subcons and go back to the Mushroom Kingdom. The next morning, Princess Peach goes back to the Dream Kingdom for the trading agreement signing, accompanied by the same Toad servants that she went on her walk with the day before, Mario, Luigi, Yellow Toad and Blue Toad (in my headcanon, their names are Amarillo and Azul, respectively, and just like Mario and Luigi, they too are twin brothers, with Azul being the older twin, and they’re also Toadette’s older brothers, and they all come from a family of Mexican heritage). They bring a large cart, which is loaded with crates full of different power-ups. When they reach Marzipan’s Castle, they go inside, taking the cart with them. They go to the throne room, where Princess Marzipan and the Subcons are waiting, and they all greet each other. Then the two princesses have their respective servants place all of the crates with the power-ups that they want to trade to each other next to each other. Marzipan’s steward, Subcois (his name is a combination of Subcon and the human name Francois), brings her and Peach the trading agreement paper for them to sign. After the princesses sign it, everybody cheers. Then Mario, Luigi, Amarillo, Azul, Peach, Marzipan, Subcois, the Toad servants and the Subcon servants leave the castle and head to Marzipan’s favorite picnic spot for their picnic. But on the way there, the group sees the Koopa Clown Car flying in the sky. It lands in front of them, and Bowser Jr. pops out of it, followed by the Koopalings. Everybody is shocked to see them, but they’re not the only foes in the Koopa Clown Car. Surprise! Wart’s son, Bumpy (I’d name him Wart Jr., but there’s already a frog villager from the Animal Crossing series who has that name), and all seven of the high-ranking members of the 8-Bits (Mouser, Tryclyde, Robirdo, Fryguy, Clawgrip and two new members, Ninjino (his name is a combination of Ninji and the human name Gino, and he’s the leader of the Ninjis) and Phantonio (his name is a combination of Phanto and the human name Antonio, and he is a humanoid Phanto who is the leader of the Phantos)) jump out of the Koopa Clown Car, and everybody is very shocked to see them. (That’s right, after almost 35 years since their debut in Super Mario Bros. 2 and only reappearing in its remakes (though Wart does appear in The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening under the name of Mamu), Wart and the 8-Bits finally return in this game! This time, Bowser and Wart have teamed up to take over the Dream Kingdom!) Bowser Jr. and Bumpy then order the 8-Bits to grab Peach and Marzipan. They do so and throw the screaming princesses into the Koopa Clown Car before jumping back into it themselves. Then the Koopa Clown Car flies away as Peach and Marzipan yell for help. Mario, Luigi, Amarillo and Azul frantically give chase while Subcois, the Toad servants and the Subcons rush back to Marzipan’s castle. When they get there, Subcois quickly instructs the others to put some of the power-up crates into a cannon. After they do, they roll the cannon to an open window and blast the crates into the sky. As they go flying, the crates burst open, revealing several power-ups, including two brand new ones, the Lightning Flower and the Phoenix Suit. Many of them fall all over the Dream Kingdom so the Mario Brothers and the Toad Brothers can use them as they fight against the Koopa Troop and the 8-Bits. The quartet sees some power-ups, including a Lightning Flower and a Phoenix Suit, fall and bounce in front of them as they chase after the Koopa Clown Car. Knowing that they can use them to help them fight the Koopa Troop and the 8-Bits, the Mario Brothers and the Toad Brothers continue to follow the Koopa Clown Car, their hearts full of determination.
