It took me FOREVER to get the liquid rainbow, here is a tip for anyone playing on adventure mode: When you open the game, open the map to act 2, and look at the oasis. What you are looking for is a bounty on the oasis to clear the mysterious cave. Because the map is huge, even though the NPC can spawn if the bounty isn't there, because the mysterious chest doesn't always spawn it's more consistent to just reset the game and check the map for the bounty instead of teleporting and running all the way down. Not to mention there can be multiple of that area on the map in bounties, so it's impossible to tell if you are in the right place. Just look for the bounty.

January event provides the rotten mushroom, not the black mushroom. The rotten mushroom is used to tortuously convert into a portal to a farm where you find the Royal Calf pet (a jersey cow that collect gold for you). The black mushroom is used for making the Staff of Herding. The graphic has been reused (in the Blizzard way), but they are not interchangeable. Re Caverns of Frost: both levels can spawn rainbow goblins. I do full clears because I don't have Cosmic Wings yet...

Another good guide from you. I actually crafted the staff a looong time ago, and got lucky with the Liquid Rainbow, but I remember it was a pain to get Gibbering Gemstone. Anyways, I decided to try a few runs and I got Spectrum in 5 attempts. Very nice.

For the Liquid Rainbow there is a bounty in Adventure mode for the Mysterious Cave, you can just load into the game and check Act II bounties until the right one shows up and you will be guaranteed the right zone spawned without physically running around. Damn, it's the Caverns of Frost? I misremembered and have been running through the Icefall Caves =( Oddly I found Chilltara 1 time in the Icefall Caves out of like the 30 I've ran through them recently =/ Both Zelusa the Grasping and Chilltara spawned, pretty weird. Edit: I'm on PC

I haven’t farmed the staff since it was first made available, yeah a. Long time ago.. so your guide was very easy and refreshed my mind, thanks! Of course I have it in regular, but I want it for my seasonal players. Just fun to get. Ive obtained all but the gibberish gemstone. I’ve ran across chiltarra multiple times but no drop . If your doing liquid rainbow through adventure, if you goto the zone and the bounty “mysterious cave” isnt on the map just rest automatically dont waste time going to the spot where the npc should be.

The problem being is that the location is so sparse regarding item drops. Whenever I use the staff and enter the location, hardly any clouds, gold pots or monsters drop anything at all. I don't think it's worth it, but for the sword and portrait.

Hello! so I got the staff! I was killed in the level three times and now the cow wont show up and I can not access the level anymore. I have even made two more staffs with other caricatures and still noting. Any thoughts?

Still a good video I forgot what room the blackmushroom spawned in since the last time I farmed it was on the xbox 360. And I got it on my 15th run through for the mushroom. Oh boy I just love icefall caves. That gemstone is always a nightmare for me.

You can only get that stuff from the goblins because they drop whimsydale not the one you open with the staff of hearding

This is VERY hard to get now. Shinbone, Rainbow and Gemstone are extremely rare. *UPDATE: Ok so I switched to farming these on campaign mode (I was on adventure mode before) , and got them almost instantly. The Gibbering Gemstone took a while still but it did come.

@@limmel3588 Nice. As for campaign mode you just have to select the quest you want to start on, the last one usually works. You do have to beat the game story first tho.

I've been farming rainbow goblins for a while now, and I have not seen one Rainbow goblin in the Caverns of Frost. I also haven't seen one in Leoric's passage, Northern Highlands, Royal Crypts or Pandemonium 1 & 2. I have found them in Sewers of Caldeum, both in Southern Highlands proper and cave of the moon clan in southern highlands, and surprisingly in weeping hollow in the cave there where the guides don't tell you to go. Nevertheless, I still do try in Caverns of Frost when it spawns.

The Staff was the easy part. It was the runs for the portrait that was the damn pain for me. I did about a hundred hours of playtime before it finally was dropped. I never had the same luck with the cosmic wings. I need a much faster and effective build for this kind of run. So I use a god dh. Not only does she have sexy legs, but eith wings like these, she can be a true pixie there.

That is by far the toughest piece to get. I would say expect around a 100 kills, depending on RNG. Take breaks as well. Do something else if you get bored. It will eventually drop. Doesn't seem like the Rainbow Portrait is going away anytime soon :)

Gemstone took me about 60 reloads. But if u think that is bad, wait till u try to find sir william. I have done roughly 300 runs, I’ve spent entire afternoons just running Whimsyshire over and over.. still nothing. It’s soul crushing.

The higher the better because you get more legendary drops but it still comes down to RNG.

That piece is going to take some time. Don't spend too much time on it if it's putting you down. Try a few attempts here and there. It will eventually happen.

No, the wings drop from a different zone. It looks exactly the same but it's a different zone. I have Guides on the Channel about the wings. You need to kill a Rainbow Goblin and enter the portal for a tiny chance at the wings.

Holy Cow!! 🐄 4 years?!?! How often do you play, if you don't mind me asking? Also PC or Console? I'm playing on a Switch. I got all the items to make the staff one night. On my second journey into Whimsyshire I got the Rainbow Sword. I've heard it can take upwards of 500 hours to get the wings. 200+ Rainbow Gobs to have an 80% chance. 80% in D3 sucks, as we all know from leveling legendary gems.
