Fabulous video, Mike. Took me right back to a last minute trip about 12 years ago when I booked myself into an old caravan in the corner of a croft just outside Bunessan for a week on my own with my (stills) cameras. I took a trip out to Staffa from the Iona side but on the day there was a 2 metre swell running so instead of landing the boatman took us all round the island (the waves were breaking over the rock that Trish was taking photos from, outside the cave!). I went back the next day for a second trip and we got onto the island and into the cave ... or should that be 'cathedral'. Its a wonderful part of the world. I also spent 3 days walking on Iona in lovely blue-sky warm weather. I must look out my old hard drives and see if I might make a video of my still images with a voiceover from the journal I kept of my adventures. Thanks to You, Trish and Kiera for the memory.

Finials cave and giant’s causeway are linked in the mythical tale between the Irish Giant Finn(Fingal) McCool and Scottish Giant Beandonner who was bigger than Finn. They didn’t like each other and although they never met, they liked to throw insults at each other across the ocean . They challenged each other to a fight to the death and a bridge was built between Staffa and the Giant’s Causeway. Fingal being smaller knew he had to outwit his Scottish opponent. His wife wrapped him in a huge sheet like a newborn baby. When Beandonner finally arrived and demanded to battle his opponent there and then, he was told Fingal was out hunting could he not see it was just his wife and the baby in the homestead? When Benandnner looked into the crib, he was shocked at how big Finn’S newborn was and thought the father must be ginormous.he wasn’t going to wait around to find out, so he raced back to Staffa destroying the bridge as he went until he reached the safety of his cave. It seems that as well as winning the cued, Fingal’s prize included the title of the incredible cave on Staffa.
