This repeat aired on March 22, 1988, near the beginning of the months-long writers' strike.

To think Rob would run the whole thing in a few years.

I was lucky to see George in my hometown on his 58th birthday May 12, 1995. He returned in 2004 and I was happy to see him again with all the true George Carlin fans I could bring!

Rob Burnett wasn't quite ready for the guest host role, but Sue Hall did a great job!

Thanks. If I were a professional, I’d be paid. :) I’ll always see myself as a semi-ok amateur.

I read this as "Shaffer relief hosts", with "hosts" as a verb. So I spent the whole show waiting for Paul to be in there.

It's Jeff Samaha aka Vito! stage managing shown twice... Goodwill Games, known as the "Make-Good games" in the TBS sales dept. Anybody checking for AFTRA cards? Speaking of 'cards', you guarded the 'temporary' aka 'daily hire' card because losing one was like leaving nuclear secrets on a subway seat. Plus, being just card stock they were fragile after a while. Still have a couple used a bookmark in the book about Jack Welsh.

Bill Zanker seemed deeply uncomfortable during his segment. Hilarious.

25:12 ‘Money’ song re-popularized by ‘The Apprentice’- interesting that it’s played during another NBC program apprenticing employees...

Ostrum doesn't quite get the lyrics right, she replaces "From Far and Wide" with another "We Stand On Guard", and sings "We see them rise" instead of "We See Thee Rise" Also Bill Zanker comes out here looking like, yes, a scam artist, but then 20 million dollars later, what do I know.

nice back-handed compliment. Yes, Dave wasn't as funny on CBS as he was on NBC but ya know what? He was so good on NBC that I give him a pass on CBS.

Again, Carlin was good for some light chuckles but I never found him truly laugh out loud funny (what 'hilarious' used to mean before being beaten down to almost meaningless). Got Smart, capped teeth w/ the yellow ones in the back, sidekick maestro- yeeaaahh boy, funny stuff (don't get me started on 'your stuff').

One person hates relief hosts. I remember Dave's crush on the Canadian National Anthem.... seems like it culminated with the ep before this one, and he always regretted it.
