Thanks for this review! Might be the most comprehensive one I’ve watched yet, along with the blog post! After this, I might actually purchase it now

Thanx for this review. Just two little tips that maybe can help. The dinamics have to have the right dimension. If you write the "f" too big or too little it is not going to recognize it. Just find the right dimension. In addition, you can change the dinamic moving up or down with the pencil. About the dinamic lignes, write them in just one gesture. You did it in two different lines at min 18:18. Very nice video and hope this will help. At least for me they work.

About the handwriting... 1) it was improved in Dec 2020. No issues now. I wrote 1.5min of strings just while waiting for a train. It's genius. 2) Even before the update, the main issue was stuff like a "P" with a short stem looking like a whole note. It only took finishing a song to get past that stuff. Now... no problems. I sold desktop gear, sample libraries, plugins, and more. It's that good.

I used Staff Pad back in 2018-2019 writing my recital music. It was a pain and I had to import into Sibelius to add dynamics, slurs, phrases, etc. But on StaffPad I at least wrote notes and rhythms. I haven’t used it nice but will check it out again soon.

Hi there! thank you so much for the video. i wanted to ask if it is possible to do Cross-staff notation? Like when writing for piano, bringing the left hand notes into the upper stave?

I’d really like a list of what instruments are actually available, but can’t find one anywhere - I’ve heard they’re limited, but it’s hard to find out how limited it is

very honest and direct review. ✓ well done.But don't you agree that's they should give alternative for the text recognition.

I totally agree with this. What I think StaffPad needs to be more competitive is more options to do more things. Keyboard and MIDI input for notes, even if basic, would be a huge step in the right direction. Personally, though, I like the StaffPad method for inputting text.

I really like that you provided this walk-through review. Thanks very much. The sample libraries which work “seamlessly” with Staff Pad is, in my opinion, a long-needed breakthrough for any notation software. As a composer, it’s tremendously exciting. Thanks again for your thorough review.

Is Staffpad CPU heavy? Will it work fluently on an iPad Air?
@seanjackson55273 жыл бұрын
iPad mini handles it fine, just not Mahler-sized templates... but a full orchestra, yes.

I have read that trying to add or write in accidentals is difficult and frustrating. What is your opinion/experience? (Sorry if you said this somewhere else and I missed.)
@rab5234 жыл бұрын
Its ok, not 100 percent perfect but I am very impressed with the rate at which the developers are improving the handwriting recognition.

@@rab523 Not an honest answer. You should just tell the truth, the recognition simply sucks. Many people have problems with staffpad on ios, primarily the handwriting recognition is simply not there. Just read the reviews and it is a common issue. Buyer beware
@rab5234 жыл бұрын
@@pfylim if that were my experience, I would have said that in my review. The recognition has issues, but it works for me for the most part and is definitely improving. Everyone's handwriting is different and it is totally conceivable to me that it would work better for certain users than others.

@@pfylim The handwriting works fine. Look at vi-control and you'll see that most people said after they stuck with it, it clicked. Same thing for me. I hated it at first, then it clicked. 1) When it did, I was writing faster than I ever did in a DAW. 2) The Dec 2020 update fixed a ton of handwriting issues. I can slop notes in now and it gets it right. If you own the app, I'd update it and give it another try. If if still doesn't work, I'd ask if you've stuck with it enough to finish a song or two. If it still doesn't, then sure... it may just not be for you. That's how apps are. Trial and error. That's my honest view. Best of luck!

I write mostly for classical guitar where many voices are written in just one staff, many musical values in the same place. I find it difficult to use two or three voices at the same measure. Would you please give me some tips just in this instrument? Thanks.
