I don't really see #3 that much. But #2 I have to help ppl with ALL THE TIME!! I'm a choreographer & movement coach and MAN! So many singers stay in the same spot hidden behind the mic stand and just kinna shuffle their feet. You gotta use your space to connect with the crowd.

If you're autistic, albino, or have an eye disease where light damages your vision, sunglasses are necessities. If it's explained to the audience in a less arrogant manner than Bono's, the audience will understand.

There's no one-size-fits-all rule on any of this, and in regards to "mistake" number 3 I respectfully disagree. Some storytelling songwriters are able to deliver compelling, authentic and moving performances regardless of whether you can see their eyes or not.

On point with your sunglasses advice! Haha (It was a beginner mistake I actually made a few times and used as a “clutch”) eventually I realized...it’s pretty silly to want eyes on you for your performance, but then covering up your own! Immediately gives a vibe of disconnect.

Yes, exactly! You said it perfectly.

I’m 54 with extremely limited vision without glasses, I have cataracts, I have astigmatism to the degree that my eyes won’t hold a contact lenses and glare sensitivity. I wear prescription anti-glare sunglasses because I don’t wear my nerdy day to day glasses on stage to see. I take my glasses off intermittently because they fog up. I cannot safely see items on the stage and cannot make out faces if I keep them off. I find not being able to see very disorienting. I once grabbed another man’s hand(not my husband) when I had my glasses off because I couldn’t make out the details of face. This has been progressive over the last decade and at some point my cataracts will be bad enough to get an inter ocular lens replacement. Very anxiously awaiting that day! I dislike my dependence on glasses but I have leaned into a mysterious persona because I have no choice. I do agree that if you don’t have visual impairment that the no glasses rule should apply. People are usually happy to see you and they like to have that reflected back to them.

I actually got into the stage AT NIGHT with sunglasses on because I had lost my regular glasses and I could only SEE with the sunglasses. But I ALWAYS take any of my glasses off before stage. That day I was so focused on the performance I forgot. Thank God I realized in the beginning and went through my head the entire song WHILE SINGING and found a proper moment soon to take them off as if it was meant to be all along 😂😂😂😂

Recently during practice I was asked to sing a song (usually I play guitar) and all my other band mates are middle aged men including my dad and I was asked to sing smoke on the water and well... while I was singing it I went a bit mad with the head banging the dancing etc. Kind of like ozzy during paranoid in paris 1970 but anyways after the session my dad came and told me that I overdid it alot and I shouldn't do this which completely changed how I thought becos he always used to tell me to go crazy on stage ...but when I did he contradicted that too ..what do yall think I should do and how does one know if he's overdoing his stage antics
