3:14:02 That was probably one of the most terrifying parts of the album. In the original EATEOT, it's a sudden moment of lucidity before being suddenly plunged back into confusion. This fan album made it more terrifying by having the confusion slowly drown out the moment of lucidity, struggling to grasp onto the song itself before it's nearly impossible to even hear "Was it a Dream?" Well done.

Everything here is my opinion. Sorry if our views don't add up here, folks. Stage 1: This was, for the most part, a pleasant experience. I knew what to expect, which diminished some of the enjoyment for me. Some of the voices were a bit too loud for my tastes, but all in all, it was good! The art is easily the second-creepiest in the collection for me. Stage 2: This was somehow more enjoyable for me. The art? That guy looks like the kind of guy you'd go out with for a few friendly drinks! The music, despite the heavy distortion, was good. It felt like a more innocent, slight confusion. Like if you're having difficulties recalling memories of a friend you've reunited with after a decade or so. But, we all know it's going to get worse. Much, much worse. Stage 3: This is where things cross over into a nervous 'oh boy, here we go' vibe. In addition to the voices getting heavily distorted, the person in the art - to me, at least - looks like they're about to cry. They know there's no going back and gradually submit to the rot and chaos to come. The music was creepy and left this feeling that my heart was slowly falling into the pit of my belly by the halfway mark. Stage 4: Oh, good Lord, the art. She has seen (or experienced, rather) some shit. It perfectly illustrates the way this stage affected me. G1 was an experience. The way the line: 'What does it matter how my heart breaks?' becomes more and more coherent as the noise dies down shook me. It took my favourite of all the songs in EATEOT and made it almost unbearable (in a good way!). I just wanted to tell it to shut up and leave me alone. But then, in H1, gone was the brief moment of relative peace (at least compared to the hellish first half of G1), then in came something just as horrible. It left me stunned for a moment when I was so shocked by what I was hearing that I thought I heard a distant gunshot, almost like the patient was remembering something about a war. By the end of I1, part of me was begging for the overdriven 'it all depends on you' line to be supplanted by something else. The moments where it was clearer were somehow worse than when reversed or so loud that it was hard to make out what was said. Stage 5: Oh, sweet Jesus, this was where it went from 'make it stop' to 'I'd rather hear that one line in I1 again.' K1, while horrifying, couldn't compare to the combined hell that was M1 and N1. M1 left my jaw on the floor with how it felt like the music itself, shaken from Stage 4, was forced into the same state as the patient. It had no idea what it was or where it came from; it didn't even remember that it was music. Combined with the art, it gave the impression that the tracks themselves were screaming. But even that couldn't beat out how it perfectly segwayed into N1 (or Nightmare 1, as I'm calling it now). I must state that I am seldom brought anywhere near a state of tears by media. N1 was the straw that broke the camel's back. The rapid pops sounded like machine-gun fire, the rumbling like a plane about to blast you into oblivion. The voice, faint as it was over what sounded like a hurricane, sounded like it was blaring over a megaphone. By the end of Nightmare 1, I was almost crying from the way this all shook me. It still has me stunned as I write this. The poor patient has only one thing left in their mind before Stage 6's emptiness: the memories of the war or something similar. I don't know which option could be worse. Stage 6: I am speechless. O1 sounds like what the patient's mind is at this point: devoid of any detail or life. The poor patient is dead in all but name and form. They're 'alive,' if you can consider this state to be life. The sudden stop and abrupt transition to P1's distant rumble and never-ending static sounds like the awful plaque snuffing out any stragglers; the neurons, like the patient, are waiting for death to come. The name is appropriate, too; 'A Mind So Rotten You Forget How To Crumble' perfectly describes it. There's *nothing* left. Any faint pieces of the tiniest things remembered are gone, dead with the patient's neurons. The art, bluntly put, is f🐩ing terrifying. The face, or what little there is of one, is unsettling. What might be a compassionate smile is, in reality, a blank, smudged ghost of a smile that seems to stretch to the ears. It's almost like the disease itself is mocking the patient's suffering or marvelling at its handiwork. The way the picture looks makes it seem like the 'eyes' are moving about, trying to get all possible views of the essentially dead body of the patient. Its right eye looks squinted like its brows are furrowed; alongside the faintly malicious grin, it looks pleased with itself. Oh, God, it looks like the smile grew once I realized the implications this had in my mind. The rumbles in Q1 sound like vehicles going by in the background and the sound reverberating in the patient's frail, dying bones. Imagine the hospice, in the middle of town, during rush hour. As time goes on, the sounds of life fill the air, not that the patient knows what they are anymore. Lawnmowers, planes, weed-whackers. The sounds, muffled to us, are alien to them. Everything beyond the walls of their room - no, the outside world as a whole! - are inconceivable to the poor patient. They don't know what suffering is anymore. In Stage 2, they might have wanted nothing more than to do things to jog their fading memory, but now? Now they don't know what those are. They don't know what *anything* is anymore! R1 is the very last stretch of life before death. The past two hours of listening as I wrote have felt like minutes, but maybe that's just because I've been writing. There's nothing but emptiness; even the chaos of Stages 3 and 4 is absent. The patient doesn't even know they're being taken care of by hospice staff. There is no memory nor thought left; the soul is already gone, waiting for the body it resided in to leave this world as well. The way R1's rumbles are 'accented' means that it almost sounds like speech. Was that a door opening? Could this be leading up to Terminal Lucidity? Yup. There we go. Terminal Lucidity. The voice echoes like a voice in an empty ballroom or church. It's hard to make out, but it's a voice! The sound of speech at last! The rapid decrease of volume, as if the patient is welcoming their imminent death, is calming. But the rapid growth soon after comes with more voices, like their friends in the afterlife are calling out: 'join us! Join us!' The almost headache-inducing volume gives me the feeling that the patient and their loved ones are ecstatic to see them, as is the patient. It also sounds like a choir, possibly in a funeral service. The last note, slowly fading, leads to a faint pop. The patient has passed on and reunited with their friends.

3:14:02 really got me. It's like the brain flipping the light switch. Being stranded in the pitch black dark in a tight room for so long that light filling the god forsaken space in the mind scares the soul out of you. It almost drives me to tears feeling like I've just been given the honor to relax my shoulders and sit still for once. Just when you think everything will be OK the lights start to dim about to leave you in darkness again. It's terrifying. Like a child watching its beloved parent being pulled away from them. Now Left in the dark again just to keep wandering in circles and jumping at the slightest of sounds. From that moment on you think there is hope and the lights will shine soon. Oh poor sweet summer soul...Nobody can save you now...not even you can save yourself...you're alone in your own mind...and alone you will stay until your aching heart stops beating...

I really like how the images still work with the story progression. The first image is like an old picture, and could represent that details of the past are getting hazy or skewed. Second looks like someone who's 'turning a blind eye' to the dementia. 3, 4 and 5 look like the progression of fear and dread. 6 looks like... acceptance, as they finally succumb to their condition. It's an empty bliss, all important features of their person now faded away. Not only that, but the faces can be interpreted as their loved ones. It's all really cool.

What I love about Everywhere at the End of Time is that the music in stage 3 is so varied. Like, one track will be a 20 second loop and then a few minutes later, you get one that is almost entirely clear. This project hits that idea so much harder by introducing words. Hearing the song's lyrics, only for it to be abruptly cut off with an ear splitting track that sounds so distant yet so loud hurts my heart, and only makes me love this project even more. Edit: Another thing just came up. The transition from stage 3 to stage 4 is really cool. A few moments of utter silence save a little vinyl crackle before abruptly beginning the cacophony is so incredibly smart.

God stage 5 is so terrifying, it went from a burning memory to noises and echos trying to form a forgotten melody as your mind is deteriorating, as you forget more and more Edit: welp I broke, the end of stage 6 was horrifying to hear, everything went silent then the person remembered and came to a bliss right before they passed This was an emotional train ride, but i loved every bit of it

The morning i heard she passed i was sad but when i was saying my goodbyes seeing her lifeless body just broke me thinking abt her and her husband and her family and all the good times i had at her house and how she always cared for me and idk really know how i sound rn but i just want my grandma to know how much i love her.

Advanced Plaque Entangled Horrors (3:10:29) is perhaps the most horrifying thing I've heard. The sounds combined with the face just feel chaotic. Disagree. The original makes me feel like the angels are coming down to take me to heaven, welcoming me with their beautiful choir. This one makes me feel like Satan himself is coming to take me to hell, while singing this song just by himself. The album is still great!

@@youarealwayscorrect This version sounds more hopeful and presents a relief of being released from the horrible decline from Dementia, and it brings hope that the patient will have a better future after this moment, in the clouds and that they’ll always be remembered even if the patient couldn’t remember them until now.

@@Niiiko895 I understand what you're saying. But to me, this version of the final track sounds very lonely and ominous. It's like even the neverending voices echoing "only you" are only here to tell you that there's no one else left but you - the person who forgot everything and everyone, who is going die alone and the only thing that's waiting for them in the near future is the Grim Reaper himself, who might represent the voice behind this song. On the other hand, the original makes me feel calm. It's like I'm surrounded by angels, they're telling me that I'm finally free after enduring this hell and I can join them in the peaceful afterlife.

Lyrics for G1: *inaudible for a while* What does it matter how my heart aches? What does it matter how my heart aches? What does it matter how my heart aches? What does it matter how my heart aches? What does it matter how my heart aches? What does it matter how my heart aches? What does it matter how my heart aches? What does it matter how my heart aches? What does it matter how my heart aches? What does it matter how my heart aches? What does it matter how my heart aches? What does it matter how my heart aches? ------------- I’ve got to say, this is a lot more haunting than the original EatEot, and whoever made this did an outstanding job. The reason I wanted to point this out was because of how I thought about G1 as a track. Transition to Confusion was a great name to use, and a true one as well. To me, the repeated “What does it matter how my heart aches?” perfectly illustrates how a patient with Alzheimer’s begins to lose a part of their mind, and they (sort of) start to realize it. They remember something from long ago, a memory so wonderful and beautiful. Spending time with family and loved ones, laughing and talking with each other, smiles on all of their faces. The person tries to remember these moments, and they do, but something goes wrong. They try to remember something from that day, maybe a joke someone told, but they can’t. It escapes their mind. They try again and again, gripping onto the memory for dear life, trying to remember what happened next, and all of a sudden, it just goes away. They are taken aback, and they themselves can’t remember what they were trying to remember in the first place.

@auts10183 жыл бұрын
This is probably one of the best fan made EATEOT projects because of how much it affected me. The original had creepy moments but this just terrified me. The scary parts are everywhere here, stage 3 got to me then temporary bliss state broke me. Stage 5 was probably my lowest point as all your left is garbled voices and loud screams. Stage 6 was finally calm and I was calm again it made me feel way more connected with it. I could go on and on this probably took so much time and effort I hope to listen to this again later down the line.

Stage 5 really was the scariest. It's like a person that is trying to remember a forgotten memory, but it's already forgotten. The lucid moment at 3:14:02 suprised me. You finally remember that memory but then get plunged back to confusion. Since the brain is so foggy and full of confusion, it begins to rot. You try to scream for help, but you can't scream properly. It's like the confusion is taking out your vocal cords but actually, it's just the person with the disease going insane because they can't remember anything without taking minutes, hours, or even days. The music fits the album cover so well. It's just exactly what the album cover would sound like. It's all full of screaming, sirens, panicking, and distorted voices. The music is so disoriented, you can't even hear it anymore. Your brain was so foggy that it can't even process the sound of piano notes, or the sounds of instruments. Your brain starts to deform and get smaller, and smaller, and smaller. It begins to rot more, until you reach Stage 6. Full of silence and confusion. You can't even remember how your face looks like. Whenever you try to look in the mirror, you see a face you don't recognize and haven't seen before. You try to smile but it doesn't help, it's like your face is blank. You don't even know who you are. The face is so blurry and blank, and it's the same with other people. You look at your mothers face, but you don't recognize her. But you still love her, all the memories are now drained out to confusion. The pure lucidity at the end sounds like death is now taking you. The beautiful sounds of music, reminding you of past memories. Stage 6 was the calmest, yet was the most depressing. Dante really did a good job making this. I hope he makes a remastered version of Stage 4 next.

Everyone talks about K1 being horrifying, with which I agree; but I think J1 is also one of the scariest, because it's the beginning of the end.
@vnseelie3 жыл бұрын
This is how I felt too. J1 sounded like the music itself was experiencing the sorrow and pain of the dementia, it sounded so tortured. K1 was still tortured, but it was too chaotic and that was so all-consuming that I didn't really feel much with it besides overwhelmed and confused.

i love how during the hell sirens the voices sound like garbled speech rather than twisted lyrics, as if its not a memory but rather what the subject is trying to hear remember and comprehend at the present moment, it makes so much sense because the hell sirens are just the musical embodiment of the subjects fit of anger, depression and frustration over their condition, not a memory like the majority of the album is.

I think the repetition of the voices may be even more effective at instilling a very personal sense of madness than the Caretaker. This is killer stuff! The sound bytes are so short, we don't even get to start from a complete song to lull us into insanity! We start with so little and more just keeps getting picked away. This honestly reminds me of how I felt when I watched Mother! for the first time. This added so much depth to the experience for me. Great work!

I absolutely love K1, in the worst possible way. The well of drowning skipping unintelligable voices as the most brutal undertone, and then the screams which almost sound like sirens. It's so god damn well done. And the moment of lucidity my GOD. You expect to have it snapped out of your hands at once, but it's instead slowly faded out, as the voices drown it out and slowly make it unrecognizeable. As someone who made their own parody of Eateot (even though it's super amateur-ish) I have to tip my hat to you, for topping the orginal's K1, and a lot of other post-awareness bits for that matter, such as the slow ramp up of the confusion during G1.

the cover for stage 6 feels like such a sad acceptance. This is where you are now. no shadows or highlights, no details or color, just a few markings, and an outline of the person that was once there in full color and detail. the noise has been so corrupted at this point that the person isn't even suffering anymore. no rotting of the brain, no more screaming voices and gut-wrenching expressions. this is normal to them now. nothing is wrong. all until suddenly, even the cardboard rots away, leaving no more outline. no more details. no more life, or shape. this album, and the original album as well, are both perfect encapsulations of what suffering is, whether it's depression, Dementia, schizophrenia, Alzheimers, and anything else you can think of. well done!

The inclusion of voices into this project expresses a whole other level of degradation which is tied up in the concept of the original album - language is such an essential and central aspect of our memory and serves to edify many of our fundamental experiences, so that in this version, the horror of loss and distortion is given another level/layer of tangibility and comprehension. Really good job, and I daresay has brought me even closer to the ideas and concepts that Kirby was expressing in EATEOT.

Like the OG, this one creeps into my mind. but instead of being solemnly reminded of how awful dementia is, i'm tense and on edge from the lingering horror of this video it's amplified at night. it's hard not to think of the pained expression of stage 5 along with the incoherent screaming. hell, even stage 1 freaks me out all i can really do is wait for myself to be desensitized to it

In some ways, this is more effective than The Caretaker's version. Simply because the words are more relatable and as humans, we can connect more with them. I usually enjoy eerie things and it's hard for me to feel disturbed by things, but this here makes me feel slightly unsettled. I feel it, and I didn't feel it nearly quite as strong before. It's enough to instill a sense of dread in me. And I'm still young.
