hi Brendan , this is a great idea. I think this would be quite easy for all tunings without the breath direction change ( power chromatic, spiral and others) to get the missing chromatic notes without overblows So instead of an overblow you can push the slide and play a blow bend instead
@BrendanPowerMusic Жыл бұрын
Absolutely! Regular breath tunings like PowerBender, PowerDraw, PowerChromatic and Spiral would be easy: no need to split the reedplate and add an extra reed 🙂 👍

as for names, maybe something with fine tooth? finetooth-21 or something like that lol. there are lots of harmonicas with slides so i thought calling attention to the pretty astonishing appearance of the comb would be neat

Very cool! Hmm, name ideas, I'd just call it the Stag, or if you do it in Paddy, it could be the Irish Stag? Bendomatic (Brendomatic?) Stag Bender? Surely it's a staggering accomplishment! :) I think I'm obsessed with chords, even although I'm mostly a melody style player. I saw this and started wondering if instead of using it to create enabling reeds it would work to add some regular notes in to add some chord options, like making the 6 draw on a C harp into a C with the button pushed in to get the ACE chord. I really need to learn CAD. Not being able to do my own CAD was what stopped my chord harp project. I also want to try a sloped comb... not because I expect it to do anything interesting, but because they look cool. I have an old Magnus with a sloped comb (front to back) but the reeds are shot and the plates are glued on. I've got some tremolos with sloped combs, but I can't really see if they still work for bends since tremolos are so hard to ben anyway. I've got a crazy idea for rotating the reeds and putting them in the walls of the reed chambers instead of the tops and bottoms, using a wind saver like valve at the back of the harp, and an idea to see if I can't change the tone by changing the shape of the top of the reed slot (height-wise, printing different waveforms adjusted for the swing of the reed).
@BrendanPowerMusic Жыл бұрын
Thanks Nate. Yes, if I can teach myself CAD, anyone can! It's a lot of fun and very empowering 👍

If you used Lee Oskar reed plates you could call it the "Stagger Lee" ... or use Seydel reed plates and call it a "Slidel".

Mr Brendan power playing Bossa Nova and Brasilian Popular Music on Standard C diatônica harmonica we miss a lot notes below The C(4) first hole. Could you suggest or desing one C harmonica with extra -1 hole with notes G(4) - B(4)? That will allow us to play more five notes with chromatic bends -B(4) Bb(4), A(4), Ab(4), and G(4). 11 holes on C harmonica with 10cms! Pp lease think about.

If you isolate a reed (for e.g. using valve) it should bend. I call it a single reed bend, the mechamism is the same as valved bend. You created a comb, where all the reeds are separated from each other. So all the bends should be possible. But you connect the reed chambers via the slide and your ambouchure. Overall, the idea is very elegant and could be used in industry. Update. We can take two or more holes and close everything but single one (with one reed) by tongue. It should bend.
@BrendanPowerMusic Жыл бұрын
Single reed bends are not as appealing as interactive-reed bends. It's difficult to control the pitch of the bent note, and the tone is not so nice. Interactive-reed bends are stable and have a pleasing tone.
@SemyonP Жыл бұрын
@@BrendanPowerMusic I agree that single reed bend is difficult to control. But the timbre is not so bad. Two reeds bend is better.

This concept for the old tin sandwich is pretty staggering ( sorry couldn't resist) So how come you didn't go with the POWERSLIDE to go along with the powerbender/ powerdraw? All good things come in 3's you know😁
