The M48 Patton is a beautiful tank, I want it to remain operational for many more decades, and never need to be replaced unnecessarily.

When I enlisted in the army in 1976, we trained on M 6oa1's. The National Guard guys trained on M 48a5's. There were about four or 5M 48 first variants with the gasoline engines. They never did anything with them, they just sat there. They had the 90 mm main gun with the muzzle brake on the end . They were in pristine condition . Maybe they use them for parades or something . Occasionally the mechanics would start them up. They sounded totally bad ass.

@@i_nameless_i-jgsdf Not really, these tanks were designed for defensive warfare, well atleast in the german army atleast. So they would have time to be well hidden in ambush spots. Also the T-tanks had terrible visibility so the large size did not matter that much at the end of the day. Was it a bit large? yes. Was it too big? nah
@i_nameless_i-jgsdf4 жыл бұрын
@@AveragePootis Depends entirely on what country you are talking about. It is designed in the US so clearly defensive is not American startegy. If you compare this tank to other second generation MBTs, Leopard 1, Type 74, AMX-30, T-72 the M60 is a massive vehicle. We stop building such a tall tank for a good reason, the M1 Abrams became shorter in height than M60 Patton.

@kubanskiloewe7 жыл бұрын
@derpanzerkommandant46416 жыл бұрын
