You have to play kerbal space program. It is what spore's space stage should've been. Right now it's just a sandbox, but career mode is coming soon. The best thing is, you have much more freedom in building with part clipping off than you do in regular spore, and it's indie!

Having the Galactic adventures DLC makes space stage a whole load more fun as you can enter the surface of a planet on foot, unlock weapons and complete missions.

The game is cool, I've played it before. But I still prefer Spore, a rather large creative difference between the games.
