I think the colour is a personal choice. Personally, I am more of a natural wood look kind of guy sealing it up after making them in a clear coat, but I can certainly see why this product would appeal to people as well.

It looks like Josh took the time to care about his projects and insure the wood is protected from the elements. He also used a color that matches the fences. I like that he used a sprayer that was so precise. It looked like even I, a 75+ year old Great grandma, could make it work.

How is it going to touch the stain? You can clearly see he's barely staining it just below the dirt line and when you plant the roots grow down into the soil not up and over the edge. Also by the time anything could grow over the edge say squash or other plant vines the oil will have been absorbed into the wood so nothing could effect plant absorption

@@bobdriggers6111 I bet those boxes will last minimum 10 years before you see anything that will have them rot away and fall apart. Only thing that would damage those is if he gets carpenter ants or wood eating ants or maybe termites if they have them there.
@bobdriggers40122 жыл бұрын
@@GM6.7 then why paint them?
@GM6.72 жыл бұрын
@@bobdriggers4012 the sun will do more damage to exposed wood than wet dirt that stays a relatively same dampness and temp. The sun has already faded the wood and heat and cold has warped it a little but you protect the outside you'll prolong the life of that material. It's like staining a deck, you focus on the surface that is more exposed to the elements than the under side even though it gets wet and feels the temperature and weather almost as much. The oil protects the moisture in the wood and the stain just gives it some color.

Went to the website to see if this is ok to use for garden structures or, anything to do with food!......nothing. Since you are not coating the entire structure, it will rot from the inside regardless of the outer treatment. Probably should have used something like pure tung oil on the food side and a product like this on the perimeter.
