This album represents the bridge between groove metal and grunge, forming one aspect of nu metal.

5 years after I wrote this comment and I’m not a teenager with no idea what I’m talking about lol. I’ve found quite a few bands jumping on the wagon the late 90s seems to be where metal was falling off and by the 2000s nothing interesting, at least to me was being made. Still a good album definitely, holds up and very dark. Aaron took a very different direction and although I can’t sit and listen to country for more than 2 minutes I respect it
@24TV112 жыл бұрын
So what I mean is, yeah, the fans aren't the biggest thing to Aaron, but he still values them. After reading stuff & seeing interviews, Aaron showed that before last year's album, he still recalls seeing many fans asking for a heavy album, or people saying "They'll never be able to do that again!". In a sense, that's one of the things that made him want to write more heavy stuff today. -Giving older fans something to appreciate more & prove a lot of people wrong. Fans may still be a small part..

Last year's album was a lot heavier for today's Staind, but they're still living happy lives these days. I don't know if they'll ever come close enough to being "Brutal" again. At least they're trying to sound more like their roots, though. The stuff they put out last year was at least the heaviest album since Dysfunction.

Man, did you not even hear last year's album? Sure, it's not quite "brutal" like Tormented Staind, but it is for today's standards. It's their heaviest album since at least Dysfunction. Staind's always had a large variety of style influences, & even when Tormented came out, they still had appreciation for some softer music. But even on Tormented, listen to 4 Walls. They never even set out to just play hardcore Metal music all the time. They're a versatile artist that does justice to all music.

I DO miss this side of Staind some, but u don't get it. Reality-based emotion & reality-based meaning/lyrics is what fuels Staind's music. They all have happy lives now w/ families, so very few things still make them angry. But listen 2 last year's album/watch the documentary. -Getting back to more of their aggressive roots & stuff made it the most difficult writing/recording experience they've ever dealt with for a CD. -Lost their drummer. But they missed rockin' out/shoving Metal down throats.

There's some truth to what you say, bro, but at the same time, Aaron can figure out ways to express many emotions. For example, when they were writing the latest album last year, they were still living happy lives, but why do you think the album was so much harder to make? Aaron always keeps the emotions real, and emotion is really what fuels the beauty of their music. Finding things that piss him off is harder to do these days, and they still talk about how hard it was to make last year's album

And I suggest you study up on Staind more and quit bitching on them because they don't always play your type of music. Aaron uses music for his emotions, and for getting shit off his chest. He recognizes the ability to powerfully express himself in many forms. Any true Staind fan knows that. He didn't just grow up listening to Metal. He likes all types of music. He recently said he wants to keep Staind for more of his heavy stuff, and his solo career for more softer stuff, though. He still wants

This is the only Staind song I really like. It's raw, and I like raw stuff. I think by the time they released Break the Cycle, they were becoming not raw enough. to rock it out, but I think he also gets tired of all-out metalheads like you that can't respect them because they don't always try to make heavy music. Their lives have changed so much, & they're not those angry/aggressive young adults anymore that have anger & sadness left over from their childhood/pre-adulthood, either. Aaron was often ignored & felt alone growing up, but now he has a wife & family of his own. But Mike Mushok the guitarist, for example, said he can't listen to Tormented now.
