Lyrics:
And you
Can bring me to my knees
Again
All the times
That I could beg you please
In vain
All the times
That I felt insecure
For you
And I leave
My burdens at the door
But I'm on the outside
I'm looking in
I can see through you
See your true colors
'Cause inside you're ugly
You're ugly like me
I can see through you
See to the real you
All the times
That I felt like this won't end
It's for you
And I taste
What I could never have
It was from you
All the times
That I've cried
My intentions
Full of pride
But I waste
More time than anyone
But I'm on the outside
And I'm looking in
I can see through you
See your true colors
'Cause inside you're ugly
You're ugly like me
I can see through you
See to the real you
All the times
That I've cried
All this wasted
It's all inside
And I feel
All this pain
Stuffed it down
It's back again
And I lie
Here in bed
All alone
I can't mend
But I feel
Tomorrow will be OK
But I'm on the outside
And I'm looking in
I can see through you
See your true colors
'Cause inside you're ugly
You're ugly like me
I can see through you
See to the real you

Im 34 yrs. old. Ive been a severe addict for the last 20 years. Today im 30 days clean and i am listening to this song for the first rime sober, and it is absolutely one of the most beautiful and realest thing i have ever heard. My depression is still biting at my feet, but songs like this, keep it at bay. Thank you Aaron.

Darling, color doesn't matter, music is for the soul and when it speaks to you, it becomes a part of who you are, and when it does you get the joy of sharing it with others. It's the perfect relationship it will never cheat on you or let you down.

At 43 it still still hits as hard. I am now a father of two and giving them the life I wished and pleaded for and they will never know or understand. And I don't want them to. Those who went there know and those who made it through that darkness I tip my hat. For those still there, NEVER give up or underestimate how amazing you are! 💯❤️

@41, there is something that I realized along the way which is hard to accept. We all make our own mistakes with our children, but we try to make sure they are not the same mistakes that our parents made with us. But that makes it cyclical, because you were present for those mistakes, and its what taught you to be you and be better.....in those ways. Your children will remember your mistakes and try to insulate their children from them. Unfortunately they did not experience YOUR parents mistakes made to you, and thus have a chance of making those with their own children.... and the cycle continues. Every generation has Light and Darkness. Every generation feels the decay, and the progress. We all made it since before people were people, don't forget the resilience of who 'WE' are, Everything is a teaching event, use them all to move forward and stop focusing on the pain of the past and what was behind. We all have to forgive, even,... or perhaps especially when forgiveness is not deserved. We don't forgive for them, we forgive for ourselves.

Our memories are both a blessing and a curse. They're a blessing because we can smile at the good times we've had and those we've had them with, but they're a curse when we acknowledge that we can never have those times back, or even those people back. We can never go back

Nostalgia -- from the Greek morphemes (word parts) meaning "to return" and "to feel pain." Nostalgia is exactly right, and it's bittersweet. Be good, man.

To all those that are lost. To all those that have nobody left, but themselves. To those that have been casted away, know this, you are not alone. Sometimes its okay to be alone so that you can know more about yourself. Sometimes its okay to break away from the pack and go out alone in the world. There are others out there that you can find and be friends with.

Rock will never die. Sure it's changed but the roots are still audible and there are and have been many good bands to keep the sound rolling on. You have to remember that people change also, taste changes and they/we/you and I tune in to different sounds. I'm 60 so I also had the pleasure of growing up and living through two great decades with the seventies and eighties but I still hear good solid rock coming through. If it hadn't of changed in forty years it would have lost a huge audience but now depending on age we can go back and relive it, or be young enough to be listening for the first time. The fact that new bands are still influenced by a past age is enough. If they were simply carbon copies they'd be criticised. It's still rock music and we still love them for doing it and for keeping our memories alive.

Once you speak it, you can’t take it back) If they show concern, it’s a sign he/she still cares. Maybe enough to repair any damage. Be well my friend. I was here at 12 & Im here at 33 with so much gratitude for this art. This song is such an incredible expression of how so many of us have felt, are feeling, will come to feel… and when you can’t always find the words - it’s music like this that deeply resonates because it says all the things we don’t know how to begin to convey - music for me is a drug for expression, because it’s the most freeing feeling to connect with and artist or song - that sums up an overwhelming emotion or experience deeply personal to you - yet you’ve never even met this artist / person. The connection is deeply powerful in that sense. As an artist in a different medium , my respect love and appreciation for music has carried me from a young age to adulthood , with a better understanding , more compassion for others and it’s a friend I can always count on. This is definitely on the list of life songs you should have.

This song and especially this video shows what it's like dealing with any obstacle outside of God. Every single one of us can relate to singing this song about someone, or having someone sing it about us. And the young man trying to get past this fence, this barrier in his life. I can 100% relate. Oftentimes we think we have what it takes do something from our own will, our own power, to get rid of something horrible in our life, or just move on from something that is detrimental to us. We try all kinds of things using our own will power, and oftentimes are left in the same place where we started. Just like this young man who tried to go under, then over the wall, only to actually find himself still exactly where he started. But then all of a sudden, when we decide to use our will to trust in the Lord instead of trying to do it all on our own, we find ourselves past the wall, having no clue how we actually got past, just knowing we are past. If there was a part 2 to this video, it would be just that.

And you bring me to my knees Again All the times that I could beg you please In vain All the times that I felt insecure For you And I leave my burdens at the door But I'm on the outside, I'm looking in I can see through you, see your true colors 'Cause inside you're ugly, you're ugly like me I can see through you, see to the real you All the times that I felt like this won't end It's for you And I taste what I could never have It was from you All the times that I've cried My intentions were full of pride But I waste more time than anyone But I'm on the outside, I'm looking in I can see through you, see your true colors 'Cause inside you're ugly, you're ugly like me I can see through you, see to the real you All the times that I've cried All this wasted, it's all inside And I feel all this pain Stuffed it down, it's back again And I lie here in bed All alone, I can't mend But I feel tomorrow will be okay But I'm on the outside, and I'm looking in I can see through you, see your true colors 'Cause inside you're ugly, you're ugly like me I can see through you, see to the real you

I know the song is supposed to have some deeper meaning about substance abuse and Recovery which I have been through. But to me right now at face value it's about a relationship or one that could have been with someone that wasn't honest with me how about having someone else in their life someone who has to be happens to be a heroin addict. I'm in recovery from opioids but not heroin and I'm clean and in recovery and doing really well. But there seems to be a greater appeal to be with an addict that's practicing for this other person. And all this time I thought it was because I wasn't enough but it wasn't even about me. It was because there was another person in the picture that I was not aware of completely as far as the true nature of that relationship so I'm on the outside looking in and I'm the one hurting

This song gave me a sense of hope when I was battling depression and my inner demons years ago. The last verse was the one that hit me the most and gave me a much-needed breakthrough and push to get my life back on track. All the times that I've cried, all this wasted, it's all inside. And I feel all this pain, stuffed it down, it's back again! And I lie here in bed, all alone, I can't mend. But I feel tomorrow will be okay. Yes... Tomorrow will be okay. And it has been okay since that moment. Thank you Staind for helping me with your song.
