Hey Makenzie - I love your channel; I’ve just started doing stained glass and am really curious to know more about some of the glass makers that you love. For example: who makes that beautiful mint green glass? Or the “abalone” series? Or the ‘dragon glass’ and this “rough rolled”? It’d be wonderful to know more about the makers of some of this glass. Where I live, there are some small suppliers - who I want to support, rather than buying online. But If I could tell them exactly what I want, that’d be amazing. Thanks for sharing so much of your process - from making, to preparing on Etsy, to tips and tricks as you try out new tools! I love it and your realness. Love.

great video and nice to watch something a bit different from techniques etc but that is still really relevant - thank you! I'm yet to go do some glass shopping, as live quite remotely and just starting back up, so have bought in all tools etc online. However, remember going to our local glass supplier when I was younger and just the sheer magic and amazement of it all. Can't wait to save up and take a road trip! Before you did this as a business, how did you choose the best glass / range to buy? Dis you choose the projects first and plan the glass, or did you do a haul like this, get a collection and then you could be more creative and spontaneous?? I don't know which would be best as struggle to imagine the colour combos when planning but am also a complete hoarder and will probably buy what's pretty rather than practical if I was just let loose in the shop!!!!!

Well of course! Thank you for taking the time to watch my videos! And I'm not sure, I've used one of the "dragon" glasses already, just posted one on my IG story actually! @KateLavender13 жыл бұрын
Sorry - more questions!! Absolutely love the black 'dragons' glass towards the end that is super textured. What type of projects would you use that for? And you mentioned about cutting it up for storage - what size sheets do you cut it down to to make sure you don't end up not being able to cut the pieces you need if you haven't planned your projects yet?
@ellagregory818 Жыл бұрын
I know this is an old video but I'm new and watching them all . Some of those sheets of glass, you could just put a frame around them and hang them as is, they are so pretty

Maki I need your help! I've been making stained glass for a little less than a year and I, like you, am self taught. I've been thinking about an Etsy account but I'm overwhelmed before I've started. In another video you said you felt the same when embarking in the business. The stuff I make is a little different but mostly like yours. Will you please look at some pictures of my work and help me price, also critique? I've never seen any place like this store. Its magical! And I'm pretty sure its in paradise. AND my name is Debbie too!
@MakenzieHallie3 жыл бұрын
Hello Debbie! I can definitely give some constructive feedback, but pricing can only be you! You know how long it takes you to make a piece, to make your designs, how long it took to come up with said designs etc. Then using the standard stained glass pricing formula alongside of what you charge for your actual artwork!
@debbiedrake16923 жыл бұрын
@@MakenzieHallie I've looked at your Etsy shop but it says you're on vaca so I can't see prices for your pieces. I think I understand how you run your shop and its genius. How can I send you some pics of my work? I also rehab old furniture and mosaic the top. I don't think I could ship that kind of thing for less than a fortune!

I wish a store like that was close by to where I live but I like everything I have ordered from Kokomo, though. Question, how do you store your glass in your home? Did you build shelving?
@MakenzieHallie3 жыл бұрын
Hello! I am very grateful to have this store near by, they are fantastic! And yes, in my office I use the shelves you see in this video ,technically bookshelves, and for actual glass storage i have custom shelving that basically is just horizontal spaces and shelves!

Please make a presentation and show how you specialized in iredesend pieces of stained glass. I can understand why you like the glass, but I am struggling how to incorporate in my pieces, which tend to be large and pictorial.
@MakenzieHallie3 жыл бұрын
I think that's exactly it Robert! And I struggle to incorporate standard glass into my work. I think because I approach iridescent as an "all or nothing", it eliminates that extra element of flow and matching you know what I mean? But I can definitely talk about it in an upcoming upcoming video!

do you use the grinding bit designed for heavy texture glass? It grinds the texture on the edge of the glass so that the foil or came fits without ripples.
