Hi, I just thought I should comment on your blog about German Ivy. I know that it is a "simple" vine, yet there is so little information available. Luckily I found your blog and it reinforced my zest for German Ivy.

Looks great! Do you know give or take what the diameter of the branch is? I found a birch branch but I don’t know if it will support larger plants. Maybe 4 inch pots but I’m not sure about larger ones and I’m not sure how to tell. I know birch is pretty strong but i would hate to have everything fall if if we’re too heavy. I know this will depend on a variety of factors I’m trying to get a general idea. Also, how do you attach it to the ceiling? Do you think two ceiling swag hooks in the joists of the ceiling would work?

Hey there! Thanks so much, this one is a little under 2 inches at the smallest diameter. Right now I have 3 largeish 6-8" pots hanging on it, and I've had as many as 5 pots ranging in size from 4-8 inches. As long as I keep the ones on the end pretty close to where the hooks are, I'm not worried about stability. As for hanging it from the ceiling, I just used two screw hooks directly into the ceiling joists. I was worried about using swag hooks with anchors because I didn't know how many plants I'd ultimately be hanging on the branch. But screw hooks screwed directly into the ceiling joists is SUPER stable!
