Stainless Steel Cabinet Door Repair | JIMBO'S GARAGE

I had to repair this stainless steel BBQ cabinet. It is always fun to get these types of projects in the shop. The end result worked perfectly and the client was very happy.

Regarding the rainbow color (on stainless and/or mild steel) it's a matter of less heat input. Your grey welds indicate it's over-cooked, which has the effect of tempering/weakening the metal. Three things would help you get there. 1) Uphill requires less heat input, so will allow faster travel speed; 2) Come off the pedal a little and 3) You said it--daily practice is pretty much required for TIG consistency. It's so nuanced. I think we all struggle with getting good looking TIG welds if we're not doing it everyday.

Always use aluminum for backing that way u don’t burn through try aluminum as backing an without u will see the difference
