If using convection, the doors will always be open and the air-flow will be a chimney spiral upwards, drawing air-conditioned air inwards for a building (instead of leaking outwards, and sorting hot and cold air by (...)tower-effect

Using different stories to pump-out different air-pollutants(particulate floatation, layers) are options (petrolchemical many types of towers applied conceptually). House with stair-well(integrated air-well - bigger hole) with stairs leading to roof-top garden can have the door on roof-top open with a fan blowing outwards (assisted convection). Also can have a fan blowing inwards at ground level (assisted convection). It looks like a ventilation system? Using the principle of heat always flow upward. I’ve seen such a design to reduce air conditioning power, known as convection cooling or passive cooling.

@@aircondlounge that is partly correct. Typical passive-cooling attempts to use air-flow without sparing a thought for the air. Air-speed converts to air-pressure interchangeably. The constant of air is not a simple formula but a pair of formulae applied in halving-ratio of space-distance and velocity-pressure, giving the banding-observation of air-flow within a straight pipe. The spirals, propellers, toroidal-propeller, of aircrafts and boats, of today, did not demonstrate this understanding and apply it to buildings. Every wall-surface, every floor-surface, every turn, every slope-stairs are to be treated as half-spiral and apply half-to-half interchange. Example, to have air flow spiral-up using the slope of stairs, air will brush against the wall which is drag. This drag should be compensated by another factor which can be either dusty-wall-paint to reduce drag or bigger-volume to create a bias to that direction. The build up of air leads to capacitance before the entire band rises again. This capacitance is to be accepted as the other formular and its effects used instead of defeating it. In this manner, nature being not constant becomes an observeable and useable constant. Without using pairing of concepts and apply using banding, the convection will lose momentum and require assistance in the form of motors. Sails, vanes, hand-held paper wind-mills, impellers, ... - are a form of controlled release of air capacitance by delay and not-acceleration. The current issues of cooled-heated conditioned-air leaking from buildings is a big-issue excerbated by pressurised stair-wells and doors with fire-alarms for fire-"safety". Modern designed building infernos are proves that pressurisation of stair-wells do-not work-well in reality.
