I was lucky enough to see Jimmy Page on his Outrider tour back in the 80’s. I was 3rd row Jason Bonham was playing drums. For the encore, they came back on stage and did this song. One spotlight was on Jimmy, the rest of the stage was dark. The singer put his microphone out for the crowd. We sang the song. The entire song was us. That is one of my favorite concert memories.

I was fortunate enough to attend 2 Led Zeppelin concerts, one good, one really bad. The first we drove 10 hours to see them in Greensboro NC in 1975 and the concert was kick ass, the second one was only about a 2 hour drive to Tampa Stadium in 1977, but Zeppelin played a handful of songs before a typical Florida thunderstorm hit and after the rain stopped they announced the rest of the concert was cancelled and people lost their friggin minds, resulting in a major riot that resulted in Led Zeppelin being banned from performing in Tampa again. The Greensboro concert has to be one of the best concerts that I have ever been to and I have been to NUMEROUS concerts in my life. Great choice guys. 👏👍✌️

I can imagine that moment. I saw them live at the Capitol Centre in 1977. Was one of the greatest concerts I ever saw. This song was tremendous but what I remember most is when they came out from the short intermission after John Bonham's drum solo, (they played for over 4 hrs - no warm up band) with The Immigrant Song. The stage was black then you hear Plant belting out the opening with just a light on his face. Then they exploded into the rest of the song. I will never forget that concert and that's saying something since i saw more than 100 concerts from 1976 to 1982.

To get a full experience of what Zeppelin meant to the music industry, you need to listen to many of their songs. They were more blues in the beginning, then they had rock, they had international flare, even toward the end, you had some funk, some psychedelic, monster ballads, reggae, and a little pop. Here is a list to try and cover all their transformations. Since I Been Loving You Babe, I'm Going to Leave You Trampled Under Foot Kashmir No Quarter Misty Mountain Hop Immigrant Song When the Levee Breaks D'yer Maker Fool in the Rain Dazed and Confused Rock N Roll Going to California Lemon Song Dancing Days Rain Song Song Remains the Same Moby Dick (live) Bring it on Home Nobody's Fault but Mine

Wow! Zeppelin on your channel! I never thought I'd see the day haha! To me, Zeppelin is a band that has never made a bad album. I suppose Coda is a bit of an odd collection of songs, but still not bad. I remember as a teen asking my older sibling why they don't listen to Zeppelin and they said that they heard it TOO much back in the day so they got sick of them. I couldn't believe what I was hearing...how could anyone get sick of hearing Zeppelin? I love Clutch but I don't listen to them every day because I would hate for that to happen to me. I'm careful not to over-listen to any one band, so hopefully I won't have to deal with that issue. Anyways, for my next suggestion, here is Motörhead - Ace Of Spades (kzbin.info/www/bejne/aZ7Fp4qkZqqMbMk). Cheers!

OK, don't listen to anyone else -- this is the straight dope ;-) For someone who is getting their first real taste of Led Zeppelin, you need to listen to TWO songs (album versions) Babe I'm Gonna Leave You -- from their first album, it's raw and almost sounds live. The Rain Song -- from their fifth album (Houses of the Holy) when the band was at their musical and creative peak. Both songs show why Plant is one of the finest rock vocalists ever and why Led Zeppelin is one of the greatest bands ever. Then branch out from there -- listen to every album in order :-)

Hi guys, thanks for doing Led Zeppelin. Once again I find myself agreeing with Father in that I never really got switched on to Led Zepp as a band but there are certain songs I really connected with musically, like Immigrant Song and Kashmir. This one I like as well, although not as much, and everyone in the UK over a certain age is familiar with the guitar riff from Whole Lotta Love because it was used by the BBC as the intro to their TV chart show Top Of The Pops for much of its run. It was presented weekly by a rota of BBC Radio DJs from 1964 to 2006, when record sales charts were rendered meaningless by internet downloads. The show now exists as a retrospective archive show with 42 years worth of live studio performances to draw apon. Led Zepp's Jimmy Page has been in the UK news over the last five years due to a planning dispute with London neighbour Robbie Williams (former member of 90s boy band Take That and later a solo singer) over Robbie's plans for a superbasement extension to his house. Superbasements are 'a thing' in London now because there's nowhere else you can extend your home these days except downwards. There were lurid stories in the press about loud music being played as a form of psychological warfare, but this has been denied by both parties. Jimmy's mansion is a grade 1 listed property of historical significance and obviously he is concerned that mechanical excavations for Robbie's basement would undermine the foundations. The dispute has been recently settled by Robbie given planning permission to excavate his basement extension on condition he doesn't use machinery (I have this image in my mind of Jimmy watching over the garden fence while Robbie digs his basement out with a spoon!)

I saw Zepplin and they were amazing. John Bonham died a couple of years later. The whole brand was amazing. Seen Queen also David Bowie, Prince, Eagles, Lynerd Skynerd, George Michael, Michael Jackson. I mean they are all leaving us. Listen to there music.

I feel the same way about the singer for AC/DC. I like their music but I can only take so much of his voice.

@@fatherandsonreactions To be honest, I don't like podcasts that have someone listening to an old classic, bobbing their head, making comments, while not even trying to understand the lyrics. It would be more entertaining and have more value, if you and your viewers at least attempted to interpret the lyrics. I'm turning you onto these songs, my son, even though I never spent one minute trying to figure out what they are about.

Love the reaction... and I must say that Zeppelin live always, to me, sounds more 'authentic'. It is a shame that so few of their hundreds of live performances were captured with this quality, so we see the same few over and over. There is, however, a slightly obscure (for Zep) live video that is amazing, both in the musical performance and the ability to see/hear all four guys tearing it up. I doubt you'll get many requests for it because it is not as well known, but I'd be remiss if I didn't direct you to this video of two songs (We're Gonna Groove/I Can't Quit You Babe) recorded at Royal Albert Hall in 1970. kzbin.info/www/bejne/pWS7oamumdGbd6M

A shame Jimmy Page never admitted the beginning of Stairway to Heaven was influenced by the song Taurus written by Randy California of Spirit. Led Zepplin was the opening act for Spirit on tour in 1970 so no doubt Jimmy heard Taurus. The court case was a joke. None the less Stairway to Heaven has to rank among the all time great rock tunes.
