This gave me an odd realization, because I am Portuguese and just recently I found a comic strip based on my country's wars to keep the African colonies. And isn't that in the darn comic book you see a bunch of soldiers belonging to a special operations squad literally called "Vampiros", the Portuguese spelling of Vampires. And not only that but the Spec Ops squad is on mission to locate a target that, unbeknownst to them is a got damn vampire, and in the end of the book the last surviving member of the squad, has himself turned into a vampire. So yhea, this quite the amusing coincidence.

So as you might already get from this nation, the nation of Chiropterra is all about returning a show-canon character called Nightmare Moon, who is the dark alter ego that corrupted Princess Luna due to her jealousy over 1000 years ago. As she always said, while ponies basked in Celestia's sunlight, they often slept through Luna's moonlight. Nightmare Moon is a disease that has no business returning and overwhelming Luna again, yet Nightmare Moon's most zealous followers, aka Chiropterra, continue to work towards that very return, and I think its one of the coolest antagonistic nations in the entire mod as a result. The funny thing is that Equestria CAN enter a civil war, which opens up an entirely new path for Chiropterra as a whole, and even has tons of breakaway states you can play as if you so choose (although some are more developed than others, and all of them are relatively outdated by now), and really sees them (chiropterra) at their overall best. You should check that out at some point, though you should probably set Equestria to having that in the options, just so you arent constantly resetting until it happens.

Operation Moonshine's result depends on what Equestria does. And if you were playing on Historical it'll always fail. Nothing much else you can do from Chiropterra to change the result apart from setting which path Equestria will from the Custom Options at the start. Chiropterra gets different focus tree depending on what Equestria does.

On top of this, if it loses the North Zebrican War, it gets a new focus tree depending on the ideology of whoever clapped it. If Hippogriffia was communist and clapped it, you get a communist tree. If someone was neutrality or supremacist or harmonist, you get focus trees for those too. All of them are relatively short by comparison and are effectively just failstate trees to detail the new humble beginnings of the failed nation (and Hippogriffia has them too), but its a nice bit of post-war-defeat focus content to do regardless.

EaW dev and writer for a fair amount of this nation, the starting screen, other bits - yeah, so there was an event which pointed out about the resistance screen. As to the 'failure' of project moonshine (the initial tree) - this happens if equestria does NOT break into civil war, which is the default route if historical focuses are left on. Otherwise, you move to support the Lunar Empire (which is what a lot of those juicy buffs were for) in reclaiming Equestria from where you are. Now that you've seen this route, don't worry - there's only about another 380 focuses across a bunch of routes to do :) By the way, for info - if you see a book icon on a state, click it. There's lore written there, and sometimes useful info about the background of the region, hinting at conflicts which might arise.

It's also fully canon lore from the show. Nightmare Moon is the first antagonist of the MLP series, being the sister god of Celestia who got so jealous that everyone slept through the night she reigned over, while praising the day her sister ruled, that she snapped and declared that she would usurp her sister and give rise to eternal night, that all must worship. Celestia then had to banisher her to the literal moon for 1000 years as punishment. The end of that 1000year imprisonment is when the MLP show begins, as she breaks out of the moon and returns. There's a ridiculous amount of very not for children legit lore to MLP. It's nuts.

I actually played this as Changelings after seeing your videos on it, and essentially took too long to conquer Equestria. Bonus ran out, stalemate began, Stalliongrad had attacked Equestria and lost BADLY, got flanked from the north, lost the war. Also I forgot to put up my manpower and industry, so I ran out at the worst possible time; when Stalliongrad itself had capitulated and that front took far less resources from Equestria and Crystal.

2:40 - Actually, no. You were right about the Nightmare being like a night terror. The fact that the word nightmare has the word 'mare' in it really is just a linguistic benefit to the pony puns. The full name is Nightmare Moon. Formerly Princess Luna, her responsibility was to travel through and protect her subjects' dreams from actual sentient night terrors that CAN enter the real world if they blow pony's fears out of proportion in their sleep or something. However, she got corrupted by one of the monsters due to it playing off of her own insecurities due to some stupid crap going on in her waking life and thus became a tyrannical monster that had to be banished to the moon. The bat ponies followed Princess Luna, and stayed loyal to her even after turning into Nightmare Moon.

The North Zebrica War is very interesting if you play as the United Kingdom of Aris/Hippogriffia. Since it's essentially a war where Aris gets ganged up on by 3 powers all at once. Chiropterra and Colthage combined is a powerful force to fight against on land. But on sea you're typically secured because of your large navy. Until Beakolini joins in and all of a sudden the sea is threatened and if you don't pay attention there'll be a hundred Wingbardian naval invasions.

Everytime I play Chiropterra I always fear going to war with the hippogriffs because they almost always curb stomp me. But stakuyi just be like "haha stinky hippogriffs :)" On that note I highly recommend playing the hippogriffs. They have multiple different paths you can go down, my favorite being the one that follows having sea pony dominance then searching the deep sea trench

Also, one of your advisors that you can have as chiropterra is called Velvet Remedy, she is a character from the fanfic fallout Equestria, she's such a pacifist that she once joined slavers as a medic instead of fighting and killing them, and according to fallout Equestria's lore she won't be born until 200 ish years after the megaspells drop (megaspells are basically a computer made out of gemstones magic and technology that enhances spells, like a healing spell, for example to make it affect a larger area and be powerful enough to revive an entire army, or create a black hole, or make a simple ignition spell that lights up candles burn entire cities)

A tip to help with manpower going to garrisons. A problem you seem to face all the time. Create a division with one infantry brigade and a mp support company to efficiently garrison territories. If you can afford to replace the infantry with armored cars do it for the suppression bonus. In base game it would be cavalry then armored cars. Hope this helps and I'm not sure if anyone said this before. Keep up the great content

There should be a coconut crab nation that supports agricultural uprisings, and liberates crab ranches across the map. Kinda like Polish Peasant Republic, but with a more international impact similar to support anarchist uprisings for the Global Defense Council in Spain. They would get insane consumer population buffs and high manpower (like crabs irl), but a super weak starting industry like the Great Depression debuffs since they are mainly agricultural. For an occupation law, they should get “Liberated Crabs” that is similar to liberated workers, except it gives a minor industrial buff but gives a ton of manpower from occupied states. Some great focuses could be: Crab Rave: +4% recruitable pop in core states Coconut Liberation Army: +20% attack against nations that use coconut crab farms Crustacean Conquest: +10% attack on coastal and marsh tiles The claws do!: add Global Liberation Effort decisions to start crab uprisings in neighboring nations. Sacrifice 200 infantry equipment on a 30 day cooldown to make uprising units stronger / better templates in neighboring nations. Spend 50 Political power in occupied or puppet nations to “Elevate Crab Status” that gains more compliance, and weakens resistance in occupied territory, and adds more pawn points (or whatever it’s called) toward annexation for puppets. This would simulate crabs taking over society in areas the Crab Liberation Army has taken. Really hope to see a crab nation added. For crustacea!

My recommendations for future nations? Hippogriffia, they're a nation with very interesting branching paths, but a lot of it is determined by how well you did in the North Zebrican War. Barrad, they're a very interesting nation by EaW standards, and a lot of where you end up is determined by special events and decisions. So pay attention or you'll get lost, but while that happens enjoy the madness. And lastly Colthage, just like the previous two Colthage can change drastically from one path to another almost on a whim given how politically unstable it is at any time. And if you get too many civil wars, a certain prophet might appear with very interesting aspirations.
